Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Oh, and you can kill hookers.
Welcome to Dtoid, try not to ramble so much in future blogs. Otherwise, hey!
As far as I've read this entry, we don't need to remind you to not suck because you've got some nice thoughts penned out. :)
Just make shorter paragraphs to make it easy to read, and make more entries, and you'll be okay.
It's a lot more mature than the last games (which is nice), and not as randomly chaotic and sophomoric.
You may want to pick it up someday just for the online play, even. You got the entire city to run around with 16 other people...Gotta' be fun. :P
But, games like this just aren't FOR some people. It'll be the biggest game of the year, no doubt...But that doesn't mean everyone is buyin' it!
It's my favorite series, so even if it got a 5/10, I'd at least rent it. The fact that it got a 10/10 just makes me want to buy it even more.
Admittedly the controls are probably not as good as you'll find in other games but GTA does have a feeling that you can do whatever you want.
In San Andreas I would just cruise the streets on a motorbike listening to talk-back radio and that was more fun than most games I've played since.
Also... Cocks!
....
.... And here I get serious.
Its no surprise some gamers won't play some popular games. I don't know how this post is relevant for anything but to try to get views off of a slightly flame bait title.
IF you play to kill hookers and to get 5 stars only, YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG!
<INSERT YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG PICTURE HERE>
Messing with the police is fun when you have nothing better to do in the game, and/or have some frustration to vent.
As for Assassin's Creed, its actually a mixed bag depending on the reviewer. It scored fairly low by several reviewers. I won't say its a AAA title, but their phenomenal advertising campaign was what made it into one.
Oh how very wrong i was.
Also, you're totally entitled to your own opinion, however, I feel this is the worst GTA for you to miss in regards to that opinion. Everything I've read so far has stressed just how much more enthralling and compelling the storyline is, which is apparently why you play games (same here, mate).
If I were you I wouldn't pass up on such a megaton title. I didn't play BioShock for almost 6 months because it didn't appeal to me when it came out but eventually I did play it and loved every second of it. Same with Mass Effect, which I'm only just playing through now (and trying to beat before Tuesday! Haha).
I agree with Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed being overhyped (although I actually enjoyed Halo 3 more than I thought would and I thought Assassin's Creed was a great game) but sometimes games deserve the hype. GTAIV, from what I have seen, totally deserves it. Don't miss it. Mark my words, you'll regret it later.
Concepts: Hates hyped games.
Specific into Concept: All games were western-based.
Theory: If it were a Japanese game = Big fun and purchase.
Conclusion: HAIL NIPPON!
Thats called Yakuza...
On that note... DON"T FORGET PEOPLE YAKUZA 2 is releasing for the US!
fail....
And hey, don't feel as if you're not allowed to have an opinion. If it doesn't appeal to you, don't force it.
BUT, it's also nice to keep an open mind. You could be preventing yourself from playing something you might enjoy.
Since the game will be so widespread, why don't you borrow it, rent it, or play it somewhere else before you decide either way?
