About Me
Hey I live in Illinois and I go to school still. My hobbies are reading, video games, watching anime, and messing around with computers. I spend a shit load of time reading about games and their reviews, probably even more than i play them. I am turning 17 in June which means I have not played any of the classic games don't know what people are talking about when they mention Kid Icarus and Chrono Trigger. My budget on games was very low before but now that I have a job I am playing all the games i can and i love reading about blogs not for the news really just to see what is going on and what people have to say about such things. I own a computer that can run crisis without looking like shit at least for me lol and i own a ps3 i am soon going to be adding a psp to my arsenal but kind of wish i would get an xbox 360 but i can't justify it knowing that there aren't many exclusives that i want to play and it's failure rate is so high.So that's pretty much me any other questions and you can go ahead and hit me up with a comment.

Thanks for reading!!

VegginCruz | 2:37 PM on 05.16.2008 22 comments

so i just picked up an acer 22'' monitor and I'm pretty much in love with it and i'm looking for a new part to replace in my computer right now im deciding on either speakers or a sound card.

I don't really know the specs on my speakers all I know is that there's 4 of them plus a subwoofer and they're made by altec lansing they've got quite a bit of age mayb 5 or 6 years and all i've ever used is an onboard soundcard so let me know what is the best bet for sound quality and im looking for a price under $300 if possible.

I once bought a LSD monitor by mistake. Now I know that Destructoid tastes like sunshine.

I bought what I thought was a LDS monitor, but it turned out it was one of those knock-offs who build compounds filled with teen brides. They were delicious.

I like to keep my hookers, blow, and monitors separate. It cost's a little more but it's totally worth it.

Sounds like you've already got decent speakers.

Your most noticeable & also cheapest way to upgrade your audio would be to get a Sound Blaster X-Fi card.

Lucky for you, the TOP OF THE LINE, Cadillac of sound cards has a $50 rebate this very moment.

Not only will this card put out crystal clear audio in surround sound w/ EAX it should actually increase your FPS by reducing both memory load & CPU load.

mehh welcome to Dtoid, now I know that at your age a 22" monitor might be a big deal (and congrat by the way) But alot of us here couldn't care less. What you could do is talk about your rig and what we might recommend you buy next.

So yeah I'm just trying to politely say that this post is not interesting but good luck with your rig.

Now if I can give my 0.02$ about speakers, don't look for computer specific speakers, just hunt for a good receiver and set of book shelves speakers. I recommend the Sony SS-LA500ED that's what I have with the subwoofer, years ago that costed me nearly 2000$ (a bit overpriced) but you could get your hands on a used set for a good price now.

@Clyde
an amp & expensive speakers wont fix the fact that on board sound is muddled compared to a good sound card. it would be like racing a top fuel car on regular gas.
