I actually LIKE long install times, at least on the PC. Gives me an excuse to make food, a drink, go for a walk, call my parents, play with the kitteh, etc.
Haha, that’s hilarious. Props to Capcom for shutting up the crybabies.
I would’ve bought this game, but I really don’t have the money to spare right now. Plus, I still have a huge backlog of games from 2007.
Thats some funny shit VWGTI!! Yo while your at it go make me a sandwich too!
I'm picking this up tomorow..along with Twisted Mtatel Head On.
omg I am so offended by the sandwich making remarks!!!
I certainly haven't been a fan of PS3 but this is hilarious. Capcom wins.
Josh Homme wouldn't like long load times and sandwich making. Or would he?
I myself could care less about install times. Now if it were like it was back in the old days where an install could take a good half hour to an hour (or more if you have to change 3.5 floppy discs everytime) I might raise some hell.
Joshua Homme doesn't play video games because he's too busy raping and impregnating our collective ears with great music.
MrSadistic wins.
MrSadistic does make a awesome point. But what about sandwich making? Surely even the mightiest rock gods can take time out for sandwiches?
Homme does indeed have time for sandwiches, but the ones of the sexual variety.
Can someone explain to me why so many people are crying about the supposedly long install time for DMC4? Are these people that never installed a PC game?
LOL, I would have been a lot meaner if I was to comment on the the whining bitches who are complaining about the install time.
So bravo on Capcom for keeping it classy!
My copy will be arriving soon, and the install time don't bother me none. I'm used to installing games on my PC, why should this be any different?
Some people need to be smacked. Gamers whine too much.
I got the full version. You know, with achievements.
:P
dont kill me.
I LOVE THE PS3
BZ, I would buy you an uncursed PS3 if I could afford it. =)
After playing the demo, I just couldn't get into this game. And the install time wouldn't bother me, but the install footprint sure would. I don't want to dedicate 5GB to a game I've already finished, so this sort of destroys some of the replay value.
I wonder what would happen if they just said "fuck off" and simply that
I remember last console generation it was load times people bitched about.
We've entered the next generation of consoles with HD built in. And developers want to use them to their advantage to cut down on load time.
And now people bitch because they have to install a portion of the game and it "takes too long".
And I always wonder why people call us a bunch of whiny bitches. :/
i did and it doesn't bother me i'm going to replace the 60 gig with a 250 soon.
I <3 Capcom
@ vwgti
I gots it for the PSTriples.... Standard Version....
( I know, I got cheap this time, NO? )
: )
I definitely need to upgrade the 60 Gig hard drive if games continue this trend as its nice to be able to go back to games and play at a later time. A mandatory install might suck in 6 months you decide to show a boss to a friend and have to reinstall. I have like 15 PS3 title and if they all took 5 gigs of install space as I couldn't have them all installed it would suck all my free space or force me to manage my data or limit what I could play at a moments notice.Imagine if you wanted to get nostalgic for a game and had to wait 20 min's and by then you didn't care anymore.
Though I don't think the install is a deal breaker. But personally it has been a nice thing about console games that they are not PC games and you don't have to install them. There have been some really nice games on the PS3 already that didn't require a huge install so I'm not sure I want to welcome this trend. Did COD4 require and install and its a damn fine game. Now if a install can make the game significantly better I'm all for it I don't consider a few seconds here and there significant though.
I much prefer how games of the past did this I believe the Xbox versions of Halo did a sort of streaming copy so that it did store part of the game on the hard drive but it wasn't noticeable. I would imagine there are games on the PS3 now that are doing this, do a small preload and download more while its playing off memory.
@ konchu
I have a ton of Pron & music videos ( AVI ).
I have 61 PS3 games... Plus 80+ of UT3 mods. AddOn Content ( Warhawk, Motorstorm, & Folklore ) PLUUUUS 6 PSN Store Games.
I have the 60 gb HDD model.... I still have after DMC4, 20 GB left.... I'll need a new PSTriples just to play games soon!
: P
p.s.
Cereals!
Hey, BS3. Can you give me the skinny on how to check how much space is left on the PS3 hard drive? I've been trying to figure out how to do that.

Dude, you rock. Thanks!
@ konchu
Are your save files seperate from hard drive installs? I have two seperate folders in the games menu. One, I believe, are saved game files, while the other is full of data dumps from various games.
I could be wrong, but that is my assumption.
@BS3_Owner Yeah if 5GB becomes a trend you will only be able to fit game data for 4 more games. I think you proved my point that games don't have to take up that much space to be good.
As is a 60 gig unit could hold 12 5gig game caches and that really isn't too shabby would cover most peoples day to day playing habits. But I don't like the thought of having to wait 20 minutes to just re-live a moment. I just wish the install was optional even if the load time sucked without it. Or that they used so more discrete background loading that lets you get into the game quicker.
I will probably just get a 250 gig drive eventually so I dont have to worry about it. But I do not want to accept this as normal unless there is a noticeable improvement and not just a few seconds of loadtime.
@VWGTI Yeah I am sure the data is seperate so you can delete the data my thing is when I get a new game I intend to play it soon and will probably beat it soon so a 20 min investment of time isnt too bad a price to pay for hours of entertainment. But if I am bored and I want to revisit the game for a few minutes well down the road its not really a easy to swallow.
@ konchu
Good point. I wonder if this will be a problem a few years down the road for those who want to replay a game, but first need to install a portion of the game.
Then again, will the majority of PS3 owners have a 200g+ hard drive in their console by then?
I haaaaaaaaaaaave...170 songs...7 HD videos from the PSN store...crash bandicoot...everyday shooter (but has a very low size so yay)...I still have the DMC4 demo but I'll probably delete it...39 photos...and the omega dawn expansion for warhawk. But theres also some game initial downloads, and theres about 3 or 4 or 5 of those. So I'm up to...about 39 or 38 gigs, and I'm figuring, at this rate I will probably have to replace my HDD in about 2 or so years.
You also have to realize that you actually start out with 5 GB less than whatever model you have so 60 GB=55 GB. I'm assuming thats for the PS3 OS.
@ liam
Thanks for clearing up the missing HDD space issue. After checking my available space last night, I was suprised to see it was only 75g and not 80g total.
@ tragic Hero and MrSadistic.
Agreed, Josh Homme can do whatever he pleases. I am willing to make an infinite amount of sandwiches for any musician as great as him.
