(Even more) Bionic Commando Secret Challenge Rooms
V the Grigori | 11:56 AM on 08.21.2008 6 comments

So, I've been having a blast with Bionic Commando Re-armed and was already pulling my hair out with the Final Exam (room 56) and the secret challenge rooms. Lo and behold, the inner masochist in me has found even more reasons to throw my controllers and cry myself to sleep. I turn your attention to the Bionic Commando homepage where Gearoid Reidy, producer Ben Judd's right-hand man, reveals four fan-designed challenge rooms that are sure to provide more frustration for those not entirely ready to throw in the towel.

After trying out the rooms myself, I can easily see myself seeking refuge from these new challenge rooms by getting sauced, but it's still light out, and I've barely played each room more than a handful of times.

The one by Eurogamer has already induced sharp pains in the base of my brain...

Included is the room designed by Aaron Sedillo, winner of the Bionic Commando Design-a-Challenge-Room contest--which I had never heard of, but will gladly enjoy the along with the other three.

Sedillo's Design

According to the in-game text worked into the new rooms, Ben Judd is said to be in possession of other secrets still locked away within Re-armed. Here's hoping that it starts to trickle out in a timely fashion.

The hardest part of that level seems to be that last leap of faith... you can't direct your jumps that well, so have a cm off, and you are hitting a wall.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

 about me

I was playing the hell out of Fallout 3 until my 360 red ringed... so I've been spending some much needed quality time with:

Disgaea 3
Valkyria Chronicles
Final Fantasy Tactics A2
Ultimate Ghosts'N Goblins (balls hard, like it should be)
Okami for the Wii--which I've had for a while, but never gotten around to playing.

Once I get my 360 back, I'll be finishing up Fallout 3

I'll also be returning to my regular Team Fortress 2 group... unless they're all playing Left 4 Dead... which is entirely likely.

It'll also be nice to get back to Rock Band, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Castle Crashers (which I put off like a moron), and Mega Man 9 (which I got to play exactly once before my RRoD.

I watch a fair amount of movies, most recently:

Natural City
Unleashed
Run Fatboy Run
Dr. Strangelove
Yojimbo
Rollerball (1975)

Uh, my tastes are all over the place

My favorite video game character is Mega Man. I'm not talking that Battle-net-.exe-Star-Force nonsense. I'm talking Blue Bomber Mega Man 2. The Mega Man Zero GBA games were pretty good, and the few entries of the X series hold a special place in my heart.

Even so, Bionic Commando (NES) will always be my personal favorite video game of all time. Words can't accurately describe my anticipation for the new BC coming next year.
