Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Dtoid would be the best place to start a "myspace of gaming"
Maybe that was their plan all along. <.< >.>
All I can say is, I don't know if Dtoid really will become the Myspace for gamers, but I really bloody hope it can be.
It has positive implications, but some daunting negative ones as well... and I'm not sure if the pros outweigh the cons. I mean, on the plus side, it might attract some developers out for viral marketing ploys in much the same way bands do on my space, we'd have a lot of indie devs as well, which is great because i love the whole mantra of indie titles, and we also get a lot of tallent on display in the form of videos.
The problem I see is the same problem with most stuff on the internet; if it promotes people to be creative, they people will create 10 times more raw sewage than they will create tallent. The exception is deviantArt, where the sheer volume of tallent scares most of the tallentless away...
With any luck, the Hardcore element of the blog will shine through, carrying a great Dtoid shield with "Don't suck." emblazened on it, holding back the torrent of evil. I guess we'll have to cross our extremities and hope.
