Mirror's Edge Flips Enemies the Bird
Tyler805 | 11:34 AM on 11.06.2008 19 comments

There I was trying to beat some of those impossible time trials on the Mirror’s Edge demo, and I was getting properly frustrated. After about 20 minutes of trying to perfect a line through the game I just started to jump off buildings while kicking the air (very cathartic). But once, when I jumped, spun a 180 and hit the attack button I saw the improper act above.

I may just be spinning my wheels here due to a two week meth binge, but it looks to me like faith giving the ol' British middle finger.

I know, I know. The picture is unbelievably blurry and ill-timed. Let’s see you hit up on the L stick, LB, RB and R trigger with ONE HAND and snap a picture with your piece of shit iPhone camera at the exact second of opportunity with the other.

Give it a shot and you tell me.

Ummm, no. If anything that is the PIECE sign with fingers.

PEACE, I can't type...

I have to agree, it looks like she's holding up two fingers from here...

That's sort of why I said to try it... did you?

Bug: Faith Flips the Bird

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Start game
2. Begin Time Trial
3. Fail at wall jumping, by pressing jump, then the 180 button
4. Observe the improper act

Expected Result: Faith never flips anyone off
Actual Result: Faith flips the bird to someone behind her while losing control in a jump

Rate of Reproduction: 0% sober / 60% when high.

Resolution: Stop smokin' that shit, meng

Ah, on a re-read I think I see what you mean...I might remember incorrectly, but IIRC a "peace sign" with the back of your hand towards the recipient is considered a vulgar gesture in some places (though I forget where). I can't get the demo yet (Silver member hobo), so I have no idea whether this "works," but I think I get what you're saying.

HAHA, great catch. I'll try this one right away.

People, the 'V' sign when displayed with the back of the hand facing away is equatable to the finger, at least over here in the UK.

Churchill famous gaff made it brilliant:

"V for Victory":

"fuck off":

Wow thanks Half Left... I think some people just looked at the pic and thought "that doesn't look like the finger to me" (Blindside Dork)... Read the writing, he stated that it's the British finger not the American. So yes, I see and I know exactly what you mean.

Yay. Now I am more cultured, so I can flip off Brits too!

Britains aren't real people :P

Hey, we've been around a lot longer than you yanks.

I recreated this neat little feature, you don't have to wall jump. A simple reverse after jumping allows you to pull the right trigger to get the V as many times as you can in the distance before faith is crushed against the pavement.

I like doing that to people here in America because most of them don't know what that means.

Its true, she does it. You just have to jump, hit the 180 button, and then the combat button before hitting the ground. Awesome.

Also, in that context it's "Britons", not "Britains".
Palidi's Destructoid Blog
side note: doing a 180 in mid air causes her to land on her back
grassr00ts's Destructoid Blog
Hmm, so that's why all those Brits were doing, I thought they just liked me and my American buddies and were saying "peace"

LMFAO

VINDICATION!

I'm guessing at some point in the game when you have a gun you can 180 mid air with the slow-mo on and cap on some unruly enemies a la Chow Yun Fat.

lol snap! wait till Keith Vaz hears about this!

I remember my teacher telling me that the 2 finger salute was coined back in the Hundred Years War. A rumor was running around that the French would cut off the 2 fingers of all bowmen after they won a battle. So after the English won they would show off their 2 fingers.

Also, awesome shot.
