Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts to be a budget title?
Two | 3:34 PM on 08.08.2008 8 comments

I'm looking forward to the next Banjo game. Sure, its not straight up platforming again... but I don't think I'd be as excited if it was. Instead, it's something much more. There's some platforming in there, sure, but only about 20% of the game will be that way (according to Rare.) However, if GameStop is to be believed, the new Banjo title will retail for only 39.99... and I'm not so sure how to feel about that. Sure, I loves me some cheap(er) games, but if it's gonna be the awesome experience I (and Rare) think it is... why have they decided to list it for only 10 bucks more than a Platinum Hits title? Are they just under confident about kiddy games on the 360 after Viva Pinata flopped or what?

"Sure, its not straight up platforming again."

Yeah, because hitting A to make a bear jump is sooo different from hitting A to make a vehicle jump via a spring.
OH, and I guess those mini-games in the first titles (including:races, trivia questions, word puzzles, memory games, etc, etc) were "straight up platforming".

As far as the drop in price goes, that just means I'll be 300% more likely to purchase something I was already going to purchase anyway.
Maybe this universally ignorant reaction in misunderstanding the basic principles of platforming and gaming in general have them unsure as to the success of the title.

If you ask me, this drop in prices is the smartest thing any publisher could do for all of their titles, including anticipated ones.

I'd sure as hell spend more money on games if they were all significantly cheaper.

I think its a smart move, as parents will probably look at the price of the game, rather than finding out if its good, meaning it will sell well. And the more kids who play good games, the more people will become gamers later in life. Kinda like us, when we where young and grew up with quality games like Super Mario, Mega Man and Zelda for the NES.

I might actually be interested now. Smart move.

Arttemis, the mini-games were just that, mini parts of the game. And making a vehicle jump, or hell even controlling the vehicles isn't what I'm most looking forward too. It's MAKING the vehicles, experimenting, since building vehicles WRONG... well they actually let you use it anyway, and you see how messed up it is.

And I didn't know Viva Pinata 2 was 40 also... awesome stuff.

That price sounds about right for a title by Rare, which is at best a B-list developer these days.

 about me

I'm an action junkie for the most part. If something isn't exploding at least every 13.7 seconds, I'm pissed. I'm re-discovering the power of PC gaming through Crysis, Far Cry, and Battlefield 2. I own all 3 major consoles, X-box 360, Wii, and Dreamcast. No but seriously, I got a PS3 too. Besides the PC gaming, I'm still playing a whole bunch of Vegas 2 and Halo 3, anxiously waiting for Grand Theft Auto 4.

I got myself a PSP and DS as well, though I rarely see the DS anymore (I blame Cooking Mama and my girl friend. Terrible combination.)

My all time favorite games though, changes all the time. I can never narrow it down cause I'll always remember a game from my past that totally kicked ass, and it just fucks my list. Right now though my list is like this:

1. Starcraft (PC)
2. Resident Evil 4 (GCN)
3. Megaman X (SNES)
4. Halo 3 (360)
5. Halo 2 (Xbox)
6. Street Fighter Anniversary Collection (Xbox)
7. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2)
8. Earth Defense Force 2017 (360)
9. Twisted Metal 2 (PSX)
10. Super Mario World/Yoshi's Island (SNES) [tie]

Anyway, hopefully my blog is semi interesting to you guys. I occasionally do this:
