About
Apparently I'm a gamer -- hence being here. I've had the Donkey Kong theme stuck in my head since about 1995. It's not as cool as it sounds. It's kind of like hiccuping for that many years.

I'm pretty much a deadbeat Liberal Arts graduate from U of Illinois -- uhm Springfield campus. Started off as a computer science major and switched to English Literature. Why? Because I'm an idiot and I'm still looking for the job that made the switch worth the time and money. I did take a year of Elementary Japanese, so maybe I can BS a translation job. But only if I'm talking to school children. How insulting -- "your understanding of the language is that of a retarded kid!" So I guess that skill only comes in handy for catching one out of four words in any anime I watch and a good laugh when people mispronounce words.

Just finally in August joined the high-falooting "next-gen" with a purchase of the 60gb 360. I always said if a Tales game came to the 360, I'd finally buy the damn thing. Had to eat my words but I'm enjoying it so far.

Systems own: N64, Dreamcast, DS (x2), PSP (x2), 360 (finally), Wii, PS2, and a TG-16 (unfortunately not working)

Apparently I'm a huge Tales of fan -- hence getting the 360 for Vesperia and my Klarth avatar when I signed up. But Repede's too awesome to pass up.

Currently playing: Tales of Vesperia, Viva Pinata, Soul Calibur 4, Final Fantasy IV DS, Mana Khemia, Out of the Park Baseball 9, Sam and Max Season 2 (yeah finally got around to that), Downstream Paniac

Well at the same time michiyoyoshiku is filling his 360 harddrive I've finally taken the damn plunge.

I kept putting it off for so long using the RROD and the original X-Box line-up (which really offered next to nothing that I wanted to play) as an excuse not to get one. Price also factored in but when you looked at the volume of games I was buying and the fact that I have two DS and two PSP, that excuse really shouldn't have flown for so long.

And people say Tidus looks girly, I didn't know Yuri was a dude until the game started.

I also made a vow -- if a Tales game ever came to the 360, I would get one. Who would have thought they'd be a system mover, as the guy at EB (one of only maybe three guys I trust at our five freakin locations found in less than 15 minutes of each other) said that I was one of five 360s he moved this week for Tales of Vesperia. I don't know if he was trying to make me feel better, as he already knew of the vow last year when I was lamenting Bioshock, or what but I figure he was pulling my chain. Eternal Sonata almost came close to selling me one, but coupled with the recent release of Soul Calibur IV and Viva Pinata (only $15) I finally caved for the 60gb.

It feels like a huge relief to get that over with. Now just really taking a good look at the upcoming release list and what I have to catch up on from the past two or three years -- that relief is definitely a bit more uneasy. About two to three dozen titles. Yippie. Thankfully most of those are old enough not to cost full price -- I hope.

I also picked up Kameo because it was $10 and Amanda thought it looked interesting. We actually haven't touched it between Viva Pinata, Soul Calibur and Tales, so is it any good?

And am I finally the last man alive to buy a damn X-Box?

And hey, first blog in over three months.

I didn't really bother to read but I will say Vesperia is awesome.
I enjoy the Tales series, but I played the demo for Vesperia and I thought it was horrible. Hopefully it was just the demo that was bad.
Apparently a lot of the Japanese audience feel the same way.

All 20,000 xbox 360s sold out across Japan.
No, you are not the last to purchase an XBOX, I've yet to get a 360, or even a first gen XBOX. I plan too, but I am far to poor.

This is one of the games I plan to get once I actually get one.

You make it sound like having an extensive backlog of great games is a bad thing. It could be worse (read: PS3's list of games that you can count on one hand). I KEED. Congratulations on your purchase. My GT is ShinigamiBV if you want to play some SCIV/Castle Crashers.

Reading your sidebar, we have eerily similar stories. I also switched from computer science to literature in college, and dabbled in a bit of Japanese (most of which would be useless in everyday conversation). At least I can ask people how much that yellow umbrella costs, or if the stationary store is between the train station and the school.
@ Simmons

Yeah I'm having a hard time early getting into this one. Much like Legendia (the only NA release I've yet to finish.) But it's good but with people saying its the best in the series yet -- I don't know about that. Abyss (if you overlook the load times) and Symphonia are hard to beat. And Destiny still has a soft spot in my heart.

@ Randombullseye

Yeah -- maybe it's all the damn ramen I've ate the past six years of college. "I think I'm turning Japanese"

If a Tales game goes to the PS3, guess I'll have to swallow it again and take another expensive plunge.

@Diabolicscheme

Good to hear I guess. I never touched the original either. Didn't have anything I wanted to play ultimately (sans maybe the Oddworld titles)

I almost went with the PS3 believing the Tales series would stay there, but good thing I waited. With this, the Wii and DS I'm set on my Tales for now it appears.

Please, Please, Please Tales of Innocence and Tales of Heart come over here.
If you would have held out for a couple more weeks you could have taken advantage of the next price drop
@char

IT definitely isn't a bad thing but I see myself wearing the strip on the back of my credit card out real soon. And I just moved so right now I'm trying to stablize my budget and this didn't help a lot. Got a lot to catch up on and seeing as the move had quite a few boxes filled with games, I'm probably going to have to curb my buying or it'll get out of hand.

I did trim down my collection a bit to pay for this thing. Got like 20 bucks out of Valhalla Knights and New Super Mario Bros netted me something like 35-40 I can't remember, but it was something crazy for EB's usual trade ins. And with FES, I didn't feel I really needed the original copy of Persona 3 anymore. I did keep the artbook at least.

But no, I'm really esstatic but gah, the money issues. I really need to find myself a better job or hope Amanda hits it big once she finishes up her business degree.

And don't you just love the characters in your Japanese text books? Takeshi and Mary -- what a bunch of crazy kids. Well assuming if you used the Genki series. But I'm sure all of them are about the same, just change the names.

But yeah, that's about my extent too. That and I can recite zanpakutou shikai releases.
@ arresteddeveloper

Yeah, another $50 would have netted me another game. I knew there was another one around the corner but I couldn't remember if it'd taken effect or not.

This was kind of an impluse buy actually.

I went in to get Super Sluggers for the Wii and the Tales display got me. It wasn't really a vow I was planning on keeping. More of a joking vow but it was enough for me to stop for a moment and the idea of buying one right then and there enter my head. After about ten minutes of debating and talking to Matt, I went home and picked up Valhalla Knights and all the stuff I was planning of ridding myself of anyway and came back for it.

But yeah you're probably right.
Welcome, welcome to the light side of the force! ;)
I'm wanting to pick up tales but no time!
I just got one recently too so you're not that late to the party! I bought Tales the day it was released but I haven't actually played it yet because Castle Crashers has consumed me. My GT is Zeke7hePlumber if you're interested in CC multiplayer.
Hmm hadn't really paid attention to Castle Crashers mainly as I didn't have one of these things but apparently that should be my first purchase from Marketplace?

I still don't quite get the 'transfer' rate.
