The Wii is a totally weird system. Love it or hate it, you can't deny there has never been another system like it, both in relation to it's immediate compatition (PS3, 360), what came before it (GameCube), and who's playing it (33% percent women?!)

Since it's so weird, third parites don't seem to know what to do with it. Crappy PS2 ports, mindless mini game collections, and games that look generally "phoned in" like Tiger Woods and Far Cry are a huge problem for the system. This is likely just first year success coat tail riding that will died out by next year. More or less, the same thing happend with the PS2.

But what then? What "real" games should be on this weird ass system we call the Wii?

Well, I know I have more than a few ideas, so I decieded to run a ongoing blog about it.

In this first installment, I'll go for one of the more obvious choices, Mega Man Legends 3.

Why it would make money?

Firstly, the Wii won a recently online poll for the home console the next Mega Man game should be on. Online polls don't mean a lot, but they certainly are reflective of something, especially when done on console neutral sites like the official Capcom web page.

Secondly, Capcom reportedly had a stock value increase due in large part to Wii success. As great as Capcom's exclusives for the 360 have been, they just aren't bring in the money. It may not be fair, but it's true.

Thirdly, people have been begging for a new Mega Man Legends game for a long time. The Tron Bonne and Serve Bot characters still move tons of licensed crap every year. These characters have always be popular. It's just that the games they've been in haven't looked that good, and just haven't been that fun.

Put them in a moderatley good looking, fun game, and you win.

Visually, the answer is pretty clear.

As far as gameplay goes, RE4 Wii edition was a pretty good start. Give the ability to run and shoot, lock on Metroid Prime 3 style, and zoom the camera out a little more like previous Legends games so the platforming can work, and you may have gameplay excellence.

A must for this game would be the return of traditional bosses. No more "Giant robot! Find the secret weakpoint!" crap bosses from the previous Legends games, and bring back Guts man, Elec Man, and Mr Destructoid-Man type bosses back, give Mega Man weapons for every boss he beats, and make any level excpet the last selectable from the start. What old school Mega Man fan wouldn't make that game a first day purchase?
