I respect Cronenberg because he is a filmmaker who, some would say, takes risks and experiments with ideas. And because of this, the quality of his body of work is all over the map. But even if I didn't like a movie of his, I'd still say after watching it "I'd love to see any other director even attempt this shit."

When you said Ms. Bubbles, I totally read it as Mr. Bubbles and thought there's be a discussion with a Big Daddy.
@glipe: yeah, I figured since this was a videogame site I should keep it semi-relevant. I seriously celebrate his entire catalogue (like Michael Bolton) and I think eXistenZ is the weakest, but it's got some cool ideas once you dig past the surface-level badness. The end isn't supposed to be a "trick" or surprise and it's got a strong anti-censorship slant to it. Just watched it again today and was surprised by all the stuff I misread the first time.
He is absolutely amazing. No one does violence like him, making it not just awesome but integral to his films.
