What can I say? Basically, I've been playing video games almost my entire life, currently 25 years old, starting all the way back with the Atari and moving on up over the years. I loved playing with the Atari, but my "hardcoreness", I suppose you could say, didn't really set in until I got a Nintendo Entertainment System.
Super Mario Bros. was great and all, but Mega Man is what solidified my love of gaming, at least that's what stands out the most reminiscing of my childhood of gaming. Also games like Super Mario Bros. 3.
My next console leap was to the Sega Genesis and sometime later I got the Super Nintendo. Super Nintendo was hands down the better of the two consoles in my eyes. The Genesis became an abomination toward the end of it's life cycle. I'd like to claim it was pure hardcoreness that led me to purchase a 32X and such, but honestly it was stupidity, heh.
I skipped the Saturn, wasn't a big fan of Sega at this point and honestly I didn't have any interest in anything on the system. I got a Playstation and eventually a Nintendo 64.
Playstation 2 was next and then eventually a Sega Dreamcast. The Dreamcast was a great system but still ended up failing, which sucks since it ultimately set Sega packing in the console making business. Playstation 2 was great. I got an XBox later and followed much later by a Game Cube.
This generation of consoles I have an XBox 360 and a Nintendo Wii. Both great consoles in their own ways. Don't yet have a PS3, I refused to purchase one until Yakuza 3 was announced for release in the US. It hasn't been officially announced yet, but it's not looking too bad. I may have a PS3 not long from now, but one positive thing about waiting so long is that I'll be able to pick up many great games for low prices if they came out a while ago.
I enjoy a lot of different games and genres. I play a lot of FPS, action/adventure, horror, etc. Love the Resident Evil series, Legacy of Kain series, early Mega Man titles, various wrestling titles, etc.
(That's probably not what the statute had in mind as "nuisance.")
now he fucks with microsoft... behemoth of the industry, pockets deeper than god, with a shooter that has quite mild violence for the genre.
so... his plan is to accomplish what exactly?
what will the frat boys play????
who will take their womens at the bars???
What will the frat boys play? I think the better question would be, what will the pasty skinned girlfriendless kids play? FPSs are taking over, baby. No more room for your annoying turn based Japanese RPGs.
It's 1 AM and I shouldn't of bought those candies and Monster drink at the liquor store with my girl and my buddy, but whatever.
Halo Defense Force website for the win? Anyways, there's no doubting that the reason Halo is so popular is because it's a really good game. If there was something better, we'd be playing it, but there isn't. No other game can compete with it's multiplayer. Not even CoD 4's bland ass. Good game, just feels like Counter Strike with a leveling system.
I mean, common. Look at the metacritic score for Halo 2. All the review organizations that matter gave it a 100. Gamespy, 1Up, Game Pro...etc. The only reason it's at a 95 universal acclaim is because of those few douche sites that gave it a 70. Seriously, who the fuck is Firing Squad?
I'm am throwing pillows at my sleeping friend, now. So, yeah. Majority votes and you guys are wrong. Peace out.
There. Some relevance to this post.
It has those ancient strange ring planets, a deep alien religious story (got that from Halo 2 [they remind me of elitist Christians), but yeah. In the long run it is kicking alien ass in kick ass looking armor.
But, what do you really want in a story from an FPS? Even Bioshock's story began to get generic at the end. The guy gets all the energy, you fight him, and if you're good, you save the girls at the end. What, you want it to make you cry?
And yeah, one of the nerdiest things I've done is read the Halo books, but I've stopped at the first three. Anything after that, I've not cared for.
And it's not that I have low patience or a lot of time either. To be honest, I just like to read.
