Many gamers are faced with similar choices, similar limits of expendable income and similar desires to purchase their entertainment media of choice as though it were a contest to own more than the next player. October--you know what? Fuck October. While November clearly belongs to the grit and violence of Gears and Resistance, and December to the beautiful Prince of Persia, October has four games I'm interested in and three of them have the same release date. It would have been all four, but EA bumped one forward.
Fable 2
Offering freedom, repercussions, appearance alterations, fantasy and the option to do all of that co-op with a friend online or locally, this one has me. I'd also be able to help the goody-goody characters of D-toiders out of their marriages without giving up their stuff.
[Update: Screw Fable 2 and Molyneux's wishy-washy co-op support. Even if it gets patched in, you still can't play as your character and are stuck as a lame henchman in someone else's game. I'm buying Spider-Man.]
Dead Space
Survival horror where you can move while aiming, great atmosphere, science fiction, zombies. I'm a huge fan of scary science fiction like The Thing and Alien, and now I get to play that instead of just watching.
LittleBigPlanet
Did I mention I love customization and co-op? I swear I did. And platformers. And cute things. It's Little fucking BigPlanet, and everything I've seen and heard about it is amazing.
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
I liked both Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man, the movies and comics, action games and sandbox worlds. Maybe it will be like Force Unleashed and the license will win a decent game more points in my book, or maybe you can backflip off a building and kick Vulture in the face while web-swinging off flying henchmen.
It's hard to drop the $253.20 (damn, is it really that much?) that buying them all will cost me, and that's excluding Fallout 3 (a series which I never got into) and Fracture (which turned out to have a very unimpressive demo). I can afford to buy them, but that doesn't mean I should spend the money; there are always smarter things to do, including save. In short: Fuck you, October 21st.
scientist tz: i feel the same way, except littlebigplanet will also be eating up alot of time, along with dead space. ok i lied im getting them all damnit. lets just hope i have time to play them all.
@lightthrower
The last two spiderman games were fun, so yes. I wouldn't ignore all reviews and buy it just because it's a spiderman game, but they took a bunch of things I liked and put them in a game. Unless it gives me herpes, I'll be playing it at some point. I'm much more interested in Web of Shadows than I am in Fallout 3.
Other than that, yeah, it's fucking ridiculous how every triple-A title is going to be released in the span of two months this year (hey, kinda like last year!).
I don't get it man. We gamers have to sit around for months during the summer, distracted by big Hollywood movies and such, waiting for the new releases. And then, at the end of the year BAM we get hit with a shitload of games all at once. Metal Slug 7, Castlevania: OoE, Sonic Unleashed, Gears of War 2, Resistence 2, Fallout 3, LittleBigPlanet, Saints Row 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Fable 2, not to mention buying new consoles...
This year is fucking ridiculous! And that's if you're only counting the top tier games for October and November. If I tried to play all of the second tier games too I'd need publishers to take off 2009 AND 2010 just to catch up!
Also, you forgot Dokapon Kingdom. I MUST HAVE AN RPG PARTY GAME FOR MY WII!
I’m picking up Fallout 3, Fable 2, Dead Space and PROBABLY Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. I know I don't have time for them but what are you gonna do.
Shit as it is I've already picked up Rock Band 2, Tales of Vesperia, Wario Land: Shake It and Mega Man 9, not to mention the other PS2 and various 360 games I found on clearance at Target.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Buying Fallout 3. Everything else can wait.
I actually liked Fracture!
Fuck. Money Isn't an issue, but I think I need to clone myself twice just so i know I can enjoy the games.
I'll be pre-ordering and buying Saints Row 2.
How often have I said this in a comment now?

LittleBigPlanet is mine though.

Fuck, and I'm STILL BROKE AS SHIT.
