I mentioned this in the forums, but I'll risk a failblog to give my fellow cbloggers a heads up in case they miss it.

I was in the local Gamestop on Friday and the guys there were unpacking the collectors editions of Batman: Arkham Asylum. You know that sweet batarang? It's not at all sweet. They cracked one open (one reserved for one of their fellow employees) to check it out and we were all treated to a scratched up chunk of black plastic that's permanently affixed to, and perhaps even molded out of the same piece as, the stand. The book was slightly cooler, but still a lot thinner than the CE picture would lead you to believe.
If you still want to go for the CE, we can hope that specific one was just poorly made. It's a $40 risk though, enough for a slightly older new game. You could get MGS4 or Uncharted and stop for some fast food tacos for that $40.

I wasn't planning to get the Collector's Edition, but that's just one more reason not to anyway.
We wiggled it a bit, but didn't want to break it for the guy; I suppose there's a chance that it comes off, just like there's a chance the shittiness was limited to just that specific one. Even if it does come off, it could still be replaced by anything from a toy isle that will look better (it was really bad) and cost less.
It's a shame that the actual quality is so poor though. I'm still interested in it but I'll be a bit more cautious now. Thanks for the heads up.
Sucks, but I didn't want it anyway. Doesn't the CE not have the same art as the regular box? I love the reg. box art. It's kind of strange for me, all the box art for the recent CE have been really ugly. Halo 3, Fable 2, GoW2.
At least I'll save a bit-o-money.

Also, what's all this talk about the batarang being attached to the stand so it can't be used as a weapon jargon?!
Couldn't anything be used as a weapon? I mean, the pre-order RE:5 "Sand Globe" could, potentially cause a loss of HP. Hell, you could even use the disc or box as a weapon.
Malarkey.
Still, the game is gonna own.

The Crimson Viper "action figure" with my SFIV CE taught me a lesson. Taught it hard and rough.
Now i really feel bad for whoever gets the CE.
