sucks. Is the problem of the 360, they have the games, the multiplayer system and the various systems with pricing.
But the hardware sucks.
Yep. Just had to go and buy one yesterday. My disk drive broke, and I'm not going to pay $100 when I can get a new one. $200 for a new system with the Jasper chip, a wireless controller (puts the gap to $50, and better performance beats paying for the repair. (I had 1 RROD previously, waaaay back before the term was coined but they replaced my console. Looking at it I had a Zephyr model, and it was loud and old). I now have a Jasper unit and it is incredibly better, it is tremendously less hot and when it plays a game directly from a disk it is much MUCH quieter. This route was better to go in my case, as I was out of warranty and I didn't want to have to risk getting an old chip back or having another problem arise to pay for. It does suck.
This is a good point when you consider that they've sold more. PS3's would sell more if they broke more often. Maybe that's why they don't sell as many as MS? They're systems don't fail as often forcing a replacement buy... Good point indeed.
And honestly the online service isn't all that great.. You have to pay for it whereas the PlayStation has free online gaming. Why would you keep paying for something that should be free? I can compare, I have both systems.. and MS needs to stop charging for that service... I already pay the cable company to hook up to the internet, I shouldn't be paying more fees for the same fucking service. I own both systems, and I seriously don't see the Live service being worth what they charge for it.
So far I have two friends who bought 2 360's, due to warranty expiring and then the system dying, and another friend who has bought 3. That is 4 360's right there bought as replacements. Though its hard to deny the fact that there are more 360's out there in the US.
