Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
The point is in the title.
@The Duke
exactly these releases are near identical. Which is why i found the nitty gritty interesting. It's something which hasn't been covered in any depth or review that I've seen so far.
If only to solve a mystery. It also helps people who have both consoles & are trying to decide on a version. They do look very similar but each has their own slightly different look. PS3 looks a littler sharper due to the jaggies, 360 looks a little smoother due to the higher res.
Agreed with King, YET AGAIN.
FAIL!!!!
If anything your statement have been this blog's most disruptive & needless so far. If the content wasn't of any interest to you why did you click through, let alone comment?
@brainderailment
it's not my responsibility to maintain other peoples levels of decorum. The technical aspects have no perspective. believe it or not, there are people who exist that have both consoles & to who which the availability of easy to digest quantitative data is a desirable thing.
@covah @ninjikiran
ty. Yea, i thought the same thing. So i figured i'd share it. :)
Also, NEED MOAR PIXELZ.
2) I couldn't see any difference in pics, or vids. THE SAME!
You failed destructoid #1 dont suck.
Its times like these I love destructoid. Instead of fanboy wars erupting the moment this kind of blog hits, everyone on destructoid doesnt care about minute insignificant details.
Your hipocracy amazes me. If this had been a blog about Jack Thompson ranting about how some new game was going to turn kids into killers you'd all be rolling your eyes and commenting about how game designers arent responsible for other people's behaviours.
Yet, you somehow found it fitting to inundate this blog post w/ accusations that it's flame bait & fanboy fodder. Well, I've yet to see one fanboyish comment thus far. The only thing I've seen is flames from individuals apparently offended by the fact that there are people who exist who are actually interested in the technical aspects & comparison between the 2 versions.
If it doesn't interest you, then don't comment. Simple as that. But there was nothing either radical or offensive about this blog post. It was about as controversial as an algebra equation imho.
What I find most surprising is, the blog post that gave me the idea for this one, [url=http://www.destructoid.com/blogs/ReclusiveSpirit/ps3-vs-xbox-360-soul-caliber-iv-dare-to-compare-97566.phtml]ReclusiveSpirit's
PS3 vs Xbox 360 Soul Caliber IV: Dare to compare] only 4 posts below this one; had no such reaction. Perhaps because he states at the beginning of his blog "I know there's a whole lot of you in here who really hate these things. And if you are one of those people, then please don't watch it.". Maybe I should have made a similar comment. But I guess I made a bad judgment when I assumed the community was mature enough to handle it.
and actually I agree with tmcm. didn't seem like this was trollbait, just an assessment.
chillax people
;)
@BahamutZero
both versions run 60fps. I think what you're seeing re: the color is the capture device. The 360 SS were captured w/ a VGA cap card while PS3s were via HDMI->DVI cap card. the only real difference is the res.
& which one looks better is entirely subjective. some people like the harder lines of the PS3 version; some like the scaled res of the 360 version which is a little softer.
i went w/ the PS3 version because I'm building an arcade stick w/ Sanwa parts for tekken anyway. I suppose i could be playing it on my Hori VF5 stick if i bought the 360 version instead. But then I wouldn't have a reason to build a PS3 stick for months. ;D
yea i like Darth; i heard he was pretty crappy compared to yoda but he's decent. I still am hoping the rumor of Yoda DLC is true. I'll jump on that with the quickness (even though i hate DLC w/ a passion).
re: the level of detail. It's sort of a toss up to me. I mean the PS3's sharp lines do give a more penciled distinct look. & the downscaling of the 360's higher res does tend to created a softness effect that's halfway between a light blur & AA.
for ex. if you look at this picture of Tira
the PS3's native res seems to have more pop in the depth. Like her arms, clothes, the buckle
the 360 version seems to have more detail in some areas like the gold heart on her waist & her face.
I'm happy w/ how the PS3 version turned out w/ this game though. So many dual platform games end up disappointing on the PS3 version & this one can be said to be better in at least half the areas despite a lower resolution. So my hats of to NAMCO.
Now for TEKKEN 6
