AMD / ATi has made a lot of noise about value. & that strategy seems to be playing out pretty well w/ the 48xx series. They're expected to be electricity misers; which means less heat in addition to the lower elec bill.
AMD (parent company of ATi now) has also partnered with Havok to optimize physics for their cards & processors; similar to what nVIDIA is also doing this with Ageia.

"As the complexity and visual fidelity of video games increases, AMD wants to take advantage of opportunities to improve the game experience," said Rick Bergman, senior vice president and general manager, Graphics Products Group, AMD. "By working with the clear market leader in physics software, AMD can optimize our platforms to consistently deliver the best possible visual experience to the gamer."

I have no idea what it says, or even what language it is. But the graphs don't need any translation.
The 4850 looks like it's shaping up to be the best bang/buck for the mid-range graphics market.
These cards are already shipping & pricing should be announced at Computex on June 18 (less than a week from today).
They could be up for sale before the month is over. So PC Gamers or potential PC gamers who are considering building a system or upgrading. Keep your wallets on standby & get ready to snatch one up before demand skyrockets. :)
Damn, that's some bad timing. Oh well, maybe you can return it or eBay it before people notice the new ATi cards. If you can get what you paid for it, a 40% jump in performance is a decent improvement.
