Now I'm gonna throw this out there just so there's no confusion. I'm not a huge RPG fan. There are a few though that I really enjoy. Final Fantasy X for example. I've been playing it for the past month and enjoy it thoroughly. Anyways after a few run throughs of the two Blue Dragon demo dungeons, I must say that Blue Dragon seems like and RPG that I could get into. I really like the battle system. When you pick an attack, you get a meter with a little chart of both your enemy's and ally's turn orders. When this pops up, you hold down the A button and it charges up the meter. From what I understand, depending where you stop the bar designates the turn when your attack is executed. For instance, I could just tap the button and instantly execute the attack. Or, I could fill up the bar and stop it just before the first enemy's turn, but after all of my other teamates turns. It's quite cool.
Another thing that I like is the enemy encounter method. It's not random like a lot of RPGs. Instead, you see the enemies on the world map and can either attack them, or try to avoid them. I know there are RPGs out there that use this method too, but Blue Dragon adds another level. While running around the dungeons and whatnot you can activate field skills. These a special skills that can help you avoid enemy encounters. For example, you can pop up a shield that instantly kills weak enemies rather than making you battle them. You can also throw bombs that stun the enemies allow you to avoid them easier.
There's a few things I don't like about the game, such as the main character's voice. He looks seven but sounds 15. I also don't like the weapons. The weapons of course are the entities that emerge from your characters whenever you battle. I'd rather just cut somebody's face off with a sword. It's stupid, I know, but I likes me some swords.
Alltogether, it seems like a pretty damn fine game. I'll most likely be picking up the full version when it hits US shores this August.
THAT.. sounds awesome. Glad you liked it, I was already getting this for sure. I'll play the demo later.
oh and toneman FFXII is a shitton better than FFX
Obviously that'll be different when i play from the beginning.
I disagree with FFXII being better than FFX though. I much prefer the characters, storyline and gameplay of FFX.
That's just me though.
I'd give FFX decent ranks for the story, but battling got old quickly for me in that game.
Sadly I will never get to play FFXII, my PS2 died before it came out and I repaired it and sold it off before it could act up on me again.
Tru dat
