Hi everyone, and whomever else that stumbles upon this post, I'd like to share a body of my work with you all. I've gotten a lot of really nice compliments about my work and it's really nice to know that I'm welcomed into such a robust community of passionate and dedicated individuals who do and celebrate what they love, whether it be gaming or art, or even just lurking and reading the articles as I once did. I plan to give back as much as I've been given in such a short while, so here's my way of giving, for the time being. I hope you enjoy reading my message and looking at my work.
Art, for me, isn't about good technique, or having the most clever design elements. It isn't about having your work admired or hated; It's about a message, and that message communicates who you are. It's about a deeply personal appeal to your aesthetic; it's about loving what you do, and sharing that love with the people around you.
I try not to worry about whether people like my art or not. My concern is if they gain something from it on a personal level. I like to draw the spirits and creatures that inhabit my deepest and most secret mental recesses, I like to find that primal, that most evil, that most benevolent voice; the one that speaks to me and wishes to manifest itself to a page, or a computer screen.
When I set to bring forth that vision, it may be an aspect of myself that I'm proud of, or it may not be something that I wouldn't willingly share. It's not about me, or what I want, however; I consider it my duty to bear myself to the world, and let the world see me and make it's own assessment.
I present to you a body of my work, so that you, the community, can make that assessment. I hope that with this message, you can understand that we are all a part of each other and we should share what we can, so that we all may grow.
And since a lot of you asked so nicely, I've included some hi-resolution versions of my work for anyone to use as wallpaper if they would like. Please enjoy!
First, the 2D sketches. These are my concepts for various Persona, inspired by the flawless PS2 titles.
Mortiorichis the Serpentsailor, Tower Arcana
She is the flower-headed serpent queen; her five arms represent the beckoning wiles of fairer maidens. She forever surveys the sky for movement, in stalwart guard of the cosmic egg wrought of the void, the birthplace of men and of mortality.
Hrulalis the Languished, Priestess Arcana
Within a steeled prison, she beckons with the voice of eight words not of the mortal world, only air eternal, the stillborn dawn, through her silence the daylight hours count in the millions; she is but inside herself, and in turn bears servitude to her own will. Hers is the kingdom of silence, the kingdom without law or word, for here the only language being that of weeping reverberations.
Legilis the Radiant Emperor, Sun Arcana
He is the Emperor of Magic, the born sun-soul of darkened flames and corruption, he bears forth a barrier of matrimony to protect his lover. He is the Radiant Emperor, the one who made darkness from light, the cloud of blackened rains.
Nereid the Wavecaller, Judgment Arcana
His name is always followed or proceeded by the phrase, "Most Divine of Frigid Breaths". He bears the mark of the rain dimension, manifest of the blackened ocean, where all things become perverted into despair.
Now, I've got some 2D illustrations I'd like to share. I hope you enjoy these as well!
The Akira Bike, Re-imagined
This is my 2D engineering project in which I asked myself, "What would the Akira bike look like in a heavy set, futuristic cruiser design? Fast forward to one month later, and this is the result. I think Kaneda would be impressed:
Open Mode Shows off all the machine parts and guts.
Closed Mode Shows the elegant, sleek, and aggressive profile of this vehicle.
The Beauty Render shows off the personality of the machine, and gives it life.
The Promenade
This is one of my favorites. It's a serene flight of large carrier aircraft flanked by fighters.
Darkness, Ever Falling
Clandestine aircraft stalk the clouds in silence.
Thanks a lot for looking, and thanks once again for making me feel so welcome here at Dtoid.
