Well it's been a long time coming, but the my Final Fantasy project has come to a close. It's been a long road, and I'm glad I chose nothing but hard subjects to tackle; I think I'm a better artist for it, and I've seen a marked improvement in my work. I would like to say thanks to everyone who had something nice to say about my artwork. You guys all kept me going for so long, and I'm happy to present this small body of work to the community. It's all free of charge with the full resolution images available for print at your local Kinko's, so have at it! I would, however, like to know if you do make posters of my work; please send pics!
The full resolution pictures will be made available at the bottom of the post. These thumbnail images don't do the details justice!
Enjoy guys.
I'll be coloring these in the coming weeks so look out for those too! First off, here's the final version of Shiva of Final Fantasy XIII. This one is my favorite and is the most complicated. The yin-yang motif is one of my favorite to explore; and I'm a huge fan of Tetsuya Nomura's designs. I think we're kindred spirits that just haven't met yet. <3
Slightly NSFW.
Next is Leviathan of Final Fantasy VIII. This one was a pain in the ass because the file got corrupted and I had to start over at the halfway point of the design. It's fun to mess around with marine and reptile biology; I had a fun time knocking it out.
Continuing on, this one is Cuchulainn of Final Fantasy XII. This grotesque sort of style is right up my alley, I had no problem drawing him. This design is the most faithful to the original in this set. I generally like to mix it up and add my own flavor to art, but for this one I just wanted to capture his fatness. I think it would be fair to say I made him much fatter than the original in my zeal for obesity. <3
Next up is Mateus of Final Fantasy XII. I had to take a few liberties with the design since I was working with only one angle for the majority of the design. I like this one a lot, and I can see how I was still sort of toying with the inkblot aspect I ganked from SFIV's art direction.
Lastly is Zodiark of Final Fantasy XII. This was the first of my FF drawings and I look back at how much I've improved over the short span of two months. I'm glad I took a new step in the direction of self-improvement with my artwork.
Thanks for looking, it's been a lot of fun. I think I'm going to tackle the Disgaea series next! See you all around!
Looking forward to Disgaea if that's where you're headed next!
Square-Enix needs to see this.
Cant wait to see what colors you decide to use.
AMAZING.
People like you make me wish I could draw...
Leviathan would have to be my favorite here
Hydro: Alllllll digital.
Funk: They're all digital, so I can make them more inky or less.
Funksy: Thanks a bunch! The colored ones should be interesting to see.
Thanks everyone! I appreciate your kind words.
Hope to see more from you!
