New COD4 Maps: The Good, The Bad & The Missing?
To1kien | 4:17 PM on 04.04.2008 6 comments

So after forcing myself to do my accounting homework all morning, I skipped Spanish class and downloaded the new COD4 maps to try them out and get my first impressions. I will update this as i play more

Favorites:
1. Broadcast
2. ChinaTown
3. Creek
4. Killhouse?

First off, where is Killhouse? My roommate had said he had heard rumors that Killhouse was not in the Variety Map Pack rotation, but after playing for two hours, I have yet to actually see a Killhouse game. Has anyone else actually seen it? I had thought that maybe it was only an objective based map, since I had been playing Team Deathmatch, but even after playing objective, It was no where to be found

Secondly, for those of you who haven't seen, they are doing double experience for the COD4 maps, although I don't know how long that lasts. I personally like it, because it gives a bonus to the early adopters, as well as help me level up before the FNF COD4 tourney on friday, since after i signed up i remembered I had just prestiged. nothing like playing and having only iron sights on such great guns as the M4 and SAW.

When it comes to the actual maps though, Broadcast is definitely my favorite. It is like Vacant with a real outside part to it, rather than some shoddy tacked on shipment containers that act as nothing more than headquarters/sabatoge lame sauce makers. Broadcast actually makes weapon choice important, because if you move to the other half of the map, it could completely negate your current choice. For example, the buildings outside of the main television area are great for sniper or acog assualt rifles, but both of those guns get owned as soon as they come into the corner jumping world of shotguns and uzis, and vice versa. Finally a map that is like two maps in one.

I am still quite confused while running around Chinatown but I must say I like it. It is a multistory romp of stairways and higher ground advantages. So far Scorpion/Shotgun wrecks shop on this, because most of the time I stick inside buildings and it becomes a who can shoot faster type situation. Plus, the whole theme of the place is a nice reprieve. Not sure how they would fit it into the story line (maybe it is another flashback, but this time to a parrellel warfront during the Red Dawn Area).

Creek is another solid addition. Sniping is not one of my strong points, i prefer the upclose stuff, but Creek actually makes it fun. It's like everything you ever wished you could do while watching Sniper 1/2/3. The fact that there are basically three levels brings a whole new feel, because you could be in a perfect spot to snipe one level, and yet get hammered by someone somewhere else. Although I do find it funny that people have already figured out how to jump on one of the house roofs.

That's my take on it so far. I will keep you informed, and will definitely update this ASAP once I actually get play a level of Killhouse. For your time, I leave you with this.

Sounds good. I want to try them but Live is being a bitch right now and won't let me access any download content. It won't even let me download the CoD4 update.

I haven't bought anything on Xbox live yet, but I just might have to change that so I can play these maps with my buddies. Also, the blog title and your avatar match up quite nicely. Well played, sir.

Killhouse is only in the Tactical playlist. It's fun though.
