Uh oh. I'm gonna do it. I think I'm gonna have to DO IT!

Hello friends. My name is Luke Schwiebert, and you may call me Luke or Tim if you wish. This is my intro blog.

Now, you may notice that I've been on Destructoid for a while. I've posted a good number of comments and I've even made a (very puny) blog post before this one. So, why am I making an intro blog now?

Well, at first, I just thought that it wouldn't be necessary. I figured my blog posts could speak for themselves. But now that I've spent some time checking out Dtoid's blog community, I realize that "Howdy, you all! My name is Luke and you won't find a more avid gamer than me!" just ain't gonna cut it. So here goes!

*Ahem!* To reiterate: I am Luke Schwiebert. I'm 17 years old (18 next month) and I live in Los Angeles, California. I've just started college (at Santa Monica College, if you must know), and while I don't have a major right now, my current ambition is to be a writer of fiction or television (or, hell, both!). I also have a huge interest in animation and comics, and I'd love to work in one of those fields some day, but I have a lot to learn about art before that happens. I've a Twitter and a Tumblr, so follow me if you wish!

Basic stuff: Favorite movie is Toy Story. Favorite book is Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Favorite comic is Calvin and Hobbes. Favorite band is Oingo Boingo. Favorite food is gyros. German and Irish ancestry. Two siblings, younger sisters named Mayah and Arden. Used to live in Phoenix and New York City before I moved to LA. First time I ever left the country was this summer, on a five-week trip to Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, and Belgium.

If you want something visual, that's not too abysmal, here's a picture of me:

I don't know why I took that picture.

Okay, now, about games! The first game I ever played was Ocarina of Time, sometime in early 1999, which probably makes some of you feel pretty old. Sorry about that. The second game I ever played was Mario Kart 64, the third was Super Mario 64, the fourth was Yoshi's Story, and the fifth was Donkey Kong 64. (I have a good memory.) I got an N64 as my first console for Christmas that same year, but I already wrote about that! ;D

My Top 5 favorite games (I - say this with me now - "could-never-pick-just-one!") are Donkey Kong 64, Ocarina of Time, Super Mario Bros. 3, Sonic Adventure 2,and Pokémon. As you probably guessed, I'm a big fan of Nintendo- I own every single console they ever made except the Virtual Boy (that one's gross) and the WiiU, and they're the company I grew up with. I like to think I'm not a fanboy, though. I also own the PlayStations, and I play on my (Mac OS X :() computer a lot.

I've been on gaming websites for almost as long as I've had a computer, but I've never really felt like part of a community. The formula's always the same: I find a gaming site, I make some blogs and reviews, I post in the comments and forums a few times, and then within months I lose interest. Dtoid seems different. Dtoid seems to really have a tight-knit group of buddies and semi-buddies, and that's why I really want to stay this time. I've got plans to write a lot more blogs, so I look forward to hanging around here s'more!
