About
I'm a big fan of video game related art. I do a lot myself.

My name is Tim, I'm currently going to the Art Institute of Philly to get my degree in graphic design to work in the video gaming industry. Namely I want to make video game covers, and instruction booklets, random, I know. I also wouldn't mind doing advertising or magazine layouts either, just as long as its video game related. I'm also a collector of consoles and currently have over 26 consoles so far and over 600 games.

I've been a long time lurker. So to earn my keep here, as well as a hardy welcome. I thought I'd share what is most precious to my heart. And what only seems to be growing every year. My video game collection.

Right now I live in Center City, Philadelphia in a small apartment and have my most current video games here with me. But back home in Jersey is where I hoard everything in my room and my basement. So come take my hand and lets travel between those places, shall we?

First up, my apartment in Philadelphia. Small and quaint, but what matters to me is I have enough room to play my games and wave my hand wildly when playing the Wii.

As you can see, I've got the essentials hooked up for my gaming purposes, the 360, PS3, Wii, and you've got to have the Dreamcast. On the shelf with the games are the PSP, DS Lite, and GPX F-200

Now lets go back to the armpit of America, Jersey. Below is a shot of my room at my Mom's house. Extremely messy, namely because I don't spend much time there because I'm off at college year round.

Before we go any further I want to make one thing clear. I'm a collector. I collect. I focus on consoles, but I've got a number of gems in my collection. All of which I'll make posts about sometime in the future. But for now, I'll just show you these.

If you don't know what the above is, allow me to share. The books are the art books for Shadow of the Colossus and Doshin the Giant. The game is the Game & Watch Collection that I got signed by the ass kicker and name taker himself, Reggie Fils-Aime. I got that signed at the NYC Launch of the Wii. I was number 14 in line out of 2500 people. :o) And then there's the Gameboy Micro 20th Anniversary Ed. And lastly there is the Gold Zelda Ed. of the Gameboy Camera. Only 2,000 of these were made in '98 and only offered through the Nintendo Power Store.

Now it's time to show you the Basement in Jersey. This is everything that I have. This is my baby.

Everything on the couch is what I sell to a silent auction because I've got doubles of those. Except for the second Dreamcast I have, that I'm keeping. You can never have too many of those! The arcade I built from scratch with instructions I got online. It took me over a year to complete, but it was so worth it. All I have to do is print out a marquee for it and put the monitor bezel on. I try to keep all the boxes for the consoles and whatnot, but sometimes it doesn't work out so well. I think for the most part I've been consistent about my collecting. I don't collect for the value, I only collect to have it and say I have it. I have no intention, ever, of selling my things. Hell, I don't even trade in a single crappy game I've ever bought.

So that's my collection! Let me know what you guys think, and if you have any questions please ask. Thanks! :o)

This sir. Is magnificent.

Easily the best collection I have ever seen

This must have set you back a few bob over the years, but by the sounds and looks of it, it must have been worth it =].
I'm so jealous
That'll do pig, that'll do.

Welcome to Destructoid, I love you.
Dude, that is an awesome collection of stuff!
@Half left: Yeah I've had all the NES stuff since I was seven and it just never stopped. But it was sooo worth it!
You are now a member of the official RetroforceGo! Enforcers
@Dyson: haha nice, and whats an enforcer?
I'm gaining on you :).

Nice collection.
HOLY BALLS. YOU ARE EPIC IN EVERY VARIATION.
Holy crap, I wish I still lived in Philly. We would be best friends. ;o;

Is that a Bebop I see standing on your arcade cabinet?
That's a whole lot of stuff. It's gonna take me a couple of trips to rob you of everything.
WOW man that is an awesome collection!
A Gameboy Printer? WTF
@TrailerParkJesus: So I should put on some tea for when you get here? lol

@Vlambo: Indeed, and why not?
Very nice. Only thing missing is an HDTV for that apartment.
You've been highlighted on the home page. Well if you joined on the right foot. I must have joined on the left foot.

Nice collection.
Dude, nice collection! Like Manta said, all you need is an HDTV and your set. That TV stand with all the current gen consoles is solid too! Looks to hold everything nicely, but how is the cooling factor for the 360 and PS3? Good? If so, is it an Ikea?
Way to go. I don't think I recall ever seeing an introduction blog getting the front page. Kudos.
This is an incredible collection man. I'm real jealous. Hell, I don't even have anything that I can BRAG about owning.
Hardcore! /salute
You sir... are my new hero. =D
*hug* let me move in :P
The only thing that I don't see is a Ps3
@TheExit: Yeah the stand works great! I've got two of them as you can see in the pictures. One in jersey and one here in philly. I've got the 360 and PS3 on one side and have the top hole empty so the heat rises from the back and up to that one. So the holes where the PS3 and the 360 are stay very cool. And yes it's Ikea ;o)

@Bluefusion: Thanks man! NOW I feel special lol

@atheistium: But you live in England! Can you flap your harms that long??

@Sirapak: It's right below the 360 ;o)
Wow, I somethimes feel like the only one that owns a Nintendo Virtual Boy.
Great stuff, but maybe you should buy an hdtv.

Also I still have the first Atari like you, it was my fathers atari.
@Velt: No way! I love the virtual boy! It's one of my favorite consoles, no matter what anyone says. I've got 11 games for it and 3 of them are Japanese.
You, sir, are win.
I didn't know the Game Micro 20th Anniversary was anything special, I bought it for $30 new at Wal-mart and carry it around in my pocket at all times, its sorta scratched up. I just looked up its value on Ebay and its $60-$100 new. Thanks for making me feel stupid.
epic Blog, sir.
It must have taken a while to get all that stuff...
and of course alot of money.
can i ask you a question?
do you still play "retro games" on those consoles?
that would be sweet :)
happy gathering and i wish you good luck with finding new stuff.
-drag
consider me humbled
Sorry about that tim I thought that was a ps2 below your xbox 360. Like everyone else is saying, very nice!
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm *drools*
Hey Tim -

What game was that cab originally? Is that the original monitor? Fantastic custom controls.
You have Ataris. I love you. Sleep with me.

Time to get yourself an LCD tv!
@dragfindel: of course I still play retro games! All my systems are hooked up to that one tv in the basement. And yes I plan on updating the tv.

@JonTheRevelator: It was wood originally, I built it myself. :o) and for the monitor its one I bought off of the Wells-Gardner site. They make arcade monitors, and the one I got was the first of its kind. It's an arcade monitor that hooks up to a computer via VGA.
Yo Tim! I believe I've got a comparable video gaming setup to your's, but with more volume, lol. I too am a collector, and am VERY jealous of your Zelda GameBoy Camera and all, but I think I've got some of my own stuff to make you envious! Hopefully once I figure out how to post stuff and the formatting for this site (can't even figure out how to get a profile picture/avatar up >_<) you'll see me featured next week or something! Be prepared! ^_^
When and how much are your museum tour!?
