Rock Band 2 dated and priced for New Zealand!
TheToiletDuck | 12:01 AM on 07.31.2008 11 comments

Wow, i can't believe this.

I've been hearing all about the Americans playing Rock Band and having a blast and lamented the fact that living in little ol NZ i could never play against my xbox live buddies.
But it's been so long, and now Harmonix has gone and made Rock Band 2 surely they would just let NZ dive right into Rock Band 2 given you can play the Rock Band 1 songs anyway... right? right? RIGHT!?

Today i got an email from my local videogame supplier (Gameplanet NZ http://www.gpstore.co.nz -sorry Hamza, you're exactly right) letting me know that Rock Band 1 is finally dated and priced for NZ.

ROCK BAND 1 comes out OCTOBER 10th.

Yeah, that's right, we are only now getting the FIRST Rock Band, and to carry on the theme of ONE there will be ONE shipment only, and the cost of getting into it is the raping of exactly ONE anus.

Here's the run-down.

PlayStation 3

Rock Band (game only) ($119.95) - 87USD
Hardware bundle (Drums, Wireless Guitar, Mic) ($299.95) - 220USD
Drum Kit ($179.95) - 131USD
Wireless Guitar ($99.95) - 73USD

Xbox 360

Rock Band (game only) ($119.95) - 87USD
Hardware bundle (Drums, Wireless Guitar, Mic) ($299.95) - 220USD
Drum Kit ($179.95) - 131USD
Wireless Guitar ($99.95) - 73USD

Nintendo Wii

Rock Band (game only) ($99.95) - 73USD
Hardware bundle (Drums, Wireless Guitar, Mic) ($299.95) - 220USD
Drum Kit ($179.95) - 131USD
Wireless Guitar ($99.95) - 73USD

PlayStation 2

Rock Band (game only) ($99.95) - 73USD
Hardware bundle (Drums, Wireless Guitar, Mic) ($299.95) - 220USD

What? Why is the ps2 hardware bundle the same price as the next gen's? That's a bit rough, but i guess that's where they are going to make the most money.

Oh and guess what? apparently that 220USD hardware bundle DOES NOT COME WITH THE GAME.

I can only dream of having as much money as they're going to make from NZ alone.

I was in GAME today picking up my copy of Soul Calibre IV and the guy in the store said that right now in Australia, they're only taking pre-orders for the Wii versions right now. No real good reason why the instruments aren't being bundled with the game.

Oh and as a Scot, I can safely say that after Shir Sean Connery, Scrooge McDuck is the greatest Scottish person ever. Or greatest Scottish duck ever. Maybe.

 about me

Wall of text **deleted**

Woo

I'm 27, NZ expat living in Scotland and I've got a raging clue for video games.
I'm a scientist by trade (peddling science from town to town), and have spent the last two years working on fungi (fun fact: the ones mixed with chocolate in Amsterdam are the best). It was a wicked job and i got to listen to a lot of podcasts while working. Which was handy for keeping up on video game news. Now, i study Malaria and still listen to lots of podcasts as a means to take my mind off all the rodent lives I've taken (yes, i also cackle and have no less than 3 disabled servants).

I've always been a big console gamer growing up (the C64 was a console right? ahh what do you know..), have owned most of the past consoles that were available in New Zealand, and own all the current gen systems.

Disposable Income? hell yeah!

Games I'm currently playing:
Batman Arkham Asylum (ps3)
Resident Evil 4 (ps3)
inFAMOUS (Ps3)
Team Fortress 2 (PC)
Worms 2 (XBLA)
Must Eat Birds (iphone)
Street Fighter IV (360)

Games I've recently completed:
Red Faction Guerrilla (Ps3)
Prince of Persia (360)
Mirrors Edge (360)
Lego Star Wars

Backlog:
Half Life 2 Episodes 1 and 2
Dead Space (1/2 way through)
Fallout 3
Bioshock (on Hard, finished on normal)
The Simpsons (360)

Games i've recently tried and haven't enjoyed:
Prototype
Saints Row 2
Killzone 2
Soul Calibur 4
Lego Indiana Jones

Games i absolutely love:
Team Fortress 2
Katamari Damacy
Xenogears
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Giana Sisters (c64)
Final Fantasy IX (psx)
Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis)
Day of the Tentacle
Monkey Island series
Legacy of Kain series
Soul Calibur 2
