What keeps me gaming? It's a fairly simple question but one who's answer is kind of deep. So let's start at the beginning



Ahh Green hill zone. Sonic was one of the first games i played as a kid. I don't remember a time when i didn't know who The Spiked Hedgehog was. He was just always there in my life. So this brings us to the first possible reason for me to keep Gaming, Nostalgia. Even Now My friends all know i love sonic, even tho his latest games have not been that great.



But it can't solely be nostalgia That keeps me gaming, because if it was all i would play were my old games and games like them. No There is another reason, And I can't think of a better way to describe it than with Final Fantasy VI . The narrative in this story is like none I have ever encountered. It follows no less than 12 Characters Thru the termoils and destruction of their world and beyond. Each character is well developed, and the story gives each their share of personal plot. No matter if you love The Thief (ahem, Treasure hunter) Locke Cole, The Mysterious magical Girl Terra, The Flirtatious King Edgar, or The Feral Child Gau You don't feel that any of the other characters feel weak or unbelieveable... Well maybe not Gogo, but he's an enigmatic character anywyas.



But What makes games different from anything else? Why shouldn't i just give up on gaming and watch movies or read books? Well Games have the potential to do something Much more powerfully than Any other medium of storytelling. One one level They do this becasue you spend more time with them, Where a movie only has a few hours to get you to like and connect to a person, a game usually has that much time just to tell you how it works nowdays. When the previous song (Dont be Afraid) plays in final fantasy nine you are likely tens of hours into the game, meaning youve had that much time to Warm up to and really start to care for the main Character, Zidane, and (i'm not gonna spoil exactly what happens here becase SOME PEOPE willl cry spoilers) What happenes left me crying my eyes out the last time I played it. And final fatntasy IX is not the only game that has made me cry, no Crisis core, The Mother Series, and Even Legend Of Legaia have made me cry as well

So there it is, The reason i continue to game is because of the sheer fact that they have the power to affect my view on the world, and life in general, in a much more profound and powerful sense than any movie or book i've ever experienced.
