So when I purchased Rock Band my new Fender guitar had broken within 3 hours of use. I immediately submitted my request for a new guitar on the Rock Band replacement parts page. I was in no rush for a new guitar because I personally did not approve of the quality of the guitar itself. I was happy using my wireless Les Paul.
About a week passes and I don't receive my new guitar that was supposedly sent out with 2 day shipping. I'm in no rush to receive it but at the same time I am very curious as to what is taking so long.
I get home tonight to the following e-mail.
Greetings Rocker,
Congratulations on your purchase of Rock Band!
After reviewing our records, we see that your recent request for a replacement guitar has been subject to an unacceptably long delay due to a late shipment from our manufacturer.
By the time you receive this, your replacement guitar should be on its way to you. However, the Rock Band team is committed to providing a world-class customer experience and we do not believe we have met this commitment in connection with your request. As a token of our appreciation for your patience and understanding, we will be offering you a FREE EA game. Details will follow shortly.
We are sorry if your first experience with Rock Band has not met your expectations. We hope our gift will show you how committed we are to your satisfaction.
Thank you,
The Rock Band Team
Wow. I am so impressed buy this consumer service that I had to post on here and tell every single one of you. A free game. Thats phenomenal. Bravo team. Bravo. I will be calling them in the morning to thank them and also submitted this to the consumerist. But you, Destructoid, are the first to know!
Microsoft gave me the choice of a free (old) first-party game, or a lot of different accessories when I had to send my THIRD Xbox 360 back and gave them a ton of shit. I still don't have my replacement back but I picked a wireless controller since it was worth the most out of all of my options ($49.99).
Hopefully the list isn't full of shitty games that only cost like $19.99 now like the games I was offered from Microsoft.
EA has been cool since that John Riccitelo or whatever the fuck his name is took over. Still, I bet they're bummed to see their new star developer's game costing them a bunch of cash like this. Oh well, I guess they are pretty happy they got BioWare.
I called last night because my bass pedal cracked in half. It was probably the first time I've ever called customer service and not wanted to scream. They were so polite the guy even gave me tips on how to get the bass pedal to work while I'm waiting for my replacement.
You're right EternalDeathSlayer, I've seen the changes in EA too. Hopefully they can fix their rather tarnished track record... It's not going to be like old EA, but anything is better than being the black hole of game companies.
Hey, Madden is superbly designed piece of software. I'm not a fan really, but I give them credit. OF course, it took them like 20 years to get this efficient, but still.
I was saddened when they took down the Amplitude server. I, hand to God, played that atleast 30 minutes a day. I don't know why it was so good but I couldn't stop.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. I could write a ton more, but meh. I'm on Destructoid. Obviously I freakin' love video games and robots.

Rushed product is rushed. There must have been a defect or lack of QA on the thing, I swear it sounds like every single persons has broken...
At least it's cool they're owning up to it and hopefully fixing that crap. Too bad you can't just get a copy of Frequency though =X.
deja vu
Woot, enjoy your fixed guitar and free game!

@Wedge
I already own a copy of Frequency, I got it when it was brand new. Maybe a month from it's release.
I also own Amplitude. Both fantastic.

@themartino
Where do you live? Because honestly, I would like to hunt you down, murder you, and steal your copies of Frequency and Amplitude.
Also, I'm dead serious. You will die.

Also, cocks???
Not too shabby. A little customer service goes a long way.
