Yeah the avatars are pretty stupid but they probably won't be mandatory. Just another option thrown your way.
They're pretty fucking retarded, just like Miis, and I'm not to keen on running around in Home but at least that's there for only when I'd get that urge.
Hopefully the same will go for these things.

Home is the easily most developed and interesting of any of the consoles' avatar systems... but, as a person that doesn't like seeing/using avatars, I want them all to be optional.
Just like optional 4+ GB installs are much more pleasing...
It's pretty simple, really.
But they are going to be in UNO rush! ZOMG TEH 360 IS RUINED!

Stop fucking crying and acting like your hurly burly super manly 360 has had its balls cut off or something. It's just another damn option, and one that, quite frankly, MS had to implement (to some extent/degree) because both its competitors have a similar system in place (or will).
It's like being mad Sony is updating the PSN to have more 360-like functionality and saying that's a bad thing. Competition has that effect on companies that want to, ya know, be competitive (aka MAKE MONEY).
I can't wait to get a PS3, already having a 360 because at the time it was cheaper and had more games and personally I think they're both good systems.

I would rather read a well written post from you on why you love the PS3 so much, then read the poorly written pieces about how much you hate the 360. By this point it's pretty well known you hate the XBOX360. You don't need to prove it any further. It's just becoming a little sad is all.

This is all a conspiracy. They're making up arguments to boost their leaderboard scores in hopes to dethrone Mxyzptlk from #1.

I just like how they seem so pumped in that video because they created something "new".
The avatars are completely optional so you can always switch back to your gamerpics (which will probably still be sold/released for games), and themes can still be incorporated into the new dashboard.
Overall, it's more than just a face lift, though, because it will add HD installs if you want them (an option I never expected from Microsoft), and Netflix integration!
