The web. My...final...frontier. While perusing my regular web surfing search of porn sites and gaming sites looking for a porn gaming site, I stumbled across an interesting read regarding a review of GTA IV. Apparently CGreview.com was able to get PT with both the 360 and PS3 versions of the family friendly hit, Grand Theft Auto Quatro! With a release date of 4/29 and not a single review available, I'm sure Rockstar and Take Two (along with their lawyers) set out to make CGreview as happy as Hitler during Hanukkah. No sooner than it was posted, it was taken down. All hope is not lost, as GameRevolver.com has posted "clips of the highlights". For your viewing pleasure I have copy pasta'd clips of the clips of highlights.
Xbox360 version
"On the 360, this installation is optional if you have a hard drive. I advise to proceed with installation—it reduces the already minimal frame rate issues on the 360." Sucks to be an Arcade owner. Not because of this, it just sucks to be one. That is all.
"The 360 is bright. Boy is it bright. Based on discussion history, this one will be claimed to look better, but it’ll really be preference. The texture quality is the same on both systems, but the 360 has a more cartoon-like look. This isn’t a bad thing. It just depends on preference. I’d compare the difference to that of Oblivion on each system. The 360 also suffers from some frame rate drops that are almost non-existent on the PS3. Installing the 360 version on your system’s hard drive, however, will bring performance almost up to par with the PS3." Damn you Gametrailers.com and your comparison vids!! Just a warm up folks, just a warm up.
"I can’t conclude one way or the other why the split-screen mode was not available on 360, but I assume by the drop in on-screen objects on the PS3 that the 360 just couldn’t handle it. If you own a 360, don’t worry. You have Xbox Live…so you’re set." Yes, but will XBL be working? ZIIIING!!
PS3 version
"When popping the disc into the PS3 for the first time, you’ll have a brief installation. Don’t worry, it only takes ten minutes or so, and there’s a pleasant bit of GTA history trivia to keep you occupied. So, unlike with Devil May Cry, you’ll be able to eat your sandwich prior to playing the game." Give me a fucking mini game instead of a history lesson. Or trivia. Let alone history trivia. Christ.
"The PS3 has a more relaxed color pallet, but this gives everything a more realistic look. If you don’t like the realistic look, and you have a HDMI connection, you can fiddle with your PS3 display settings and get it looking much more saturated. The textures are just as sharp as the 360 version, and there’s little to no pop-in or screen tearing. The PS3 takes longer to load than the 360, but I took several different head counts in game at different locations, and I always found the PS3 to be more populated than the 360. This could be attributed to the dynamic nature of the world, but it’s hard to tell. Either way, the difference was never more than five to seven pedestrians or three to four cars—it’s not really much of an advantage." I'm not sure I even care about this one. I get it, they look the same.
"I know, you want details, but all I can confirm is split-screen on PS3 only. I was alone, so I didn’t actually get to have any matches, but I could tell that the split-screen worked really well. There was a significant decrease in the amount of traffic and pedestrians, but it didn’t ruin anything. This is understandable. Rendering two instances of Liberty City is a chore for any machine." I've always, always, always hated split screen. Too much screen real estate lost. Oh well, I guess having an option I'll never use is nice. Kinda like XNA.
And there you have it. Fact or Fiction? Life or Death? Cocoa Krispies or Cocoa Pebbles? It's your call.

And I am a big proponent for optional hard drive installs. I will always opt for them because I have lots of unused HD space, but it's always great to have the option.

I am deliberating if I am going to go for a 360 or a PS3 in the near future. If GTA looks a little better on PS3 but has DLC on the 360, I think that's to the 360's advantage for the time being.

On topic: GrayFox, what if you don't have a HDD for your 360? Wouldn't you be playing an inferior version? Just a thought.
Gamegoblin: Pebbles don't snap, krackle, nor pop. Nuff said.

Still, I hope the 360's issues (mainly the split-screen or lack thereof) aren't true because I had been intending to pick up that version. It would also be nice to have some in-game video options for tweaking things like the saturation as well; it would simply make my life easier.
