Well, at least the spambot fapped your blog. Even bots recognize quality blogs when they see them! I reported it, bot should be gone soon.
Anywho, your blog was a good read. Seems like you channeled a little Randombullseye with your topic of awesome video gamey weirdness. I agree with all of it. It's good to see games be games and not try to be, well, anything else.
I also cannot (or rather, would not like to) imagine future game generations without the awesome weird games like a Lollipop Chainsaw or what have you, but the way things are going, every game will be a blockbuster and most likely involve shooting and everything else... will be indie and/or downloadable. *sigh*

I never thought of it that way but I'd love if the move, this Disney movie, had an underlying commentary on the current state of video games. OH GOD, that would be awesome.
There certainly is a "then and now" quality to the current trailer. Ralph joins "Hero's Duty" and cries "When did games become so violent and scary!?" The homeless Qbert baddie obviously feels the only game in town is FPS. It would be an even better jab at the industry if a game got "rebooted" as an FPS.
One thing I wanted to add, however, is how awesome kids still are. Those under ten are often free of the shackles of peer pressure, so they'll have a ball with a GBA, SNES, PS2 and not care one bit about what's "cool" to play. Moral of the comment: Get them on the classics early, preferably before 14, before the peer pressure kicks in.

@TSP
Indeed, slap kids with an Atari and their minds will be blown. I know that is what happened in my case. Never mind I could of had a NES or even the fabled SNES (released shortly after my birth).
My mind was blown by games such as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbo3SdoK1n8

@TSP: Oh yeah, definitely. That would definitely help amidst the current surge of brown-grey and such.
All I have is a PS2, GBA and DS. I'll probably grab a PS3 and a Wii whenever I can finally get a job. But more than likely I'll get sidetracked from getting them because I'll still be filling up my shelves with PS2, GBA and DS games. There are just too many good games on those systems to ignore.
If I end up never getting a PS3, Wii or future console cause I focused on getting every single solitary PS2, DS and GBA game I wanted? I wouldn't even be mad.
