I loved the movie as well, but hate how the score thing is so sacred to that branch of gaming. That aspect made me appreciate Evo even more, if that's possible. If Billy's game was Street Fighter, he'd have to actually face challengers, not just rest on his achievement.
Great movie, although it's edited to make Billy Mitchell and Twin Galaxies look much worse then they actually were. Don't get me wrong, I have no doubt that Billy Mitchell is a douche, but the implication that he faked the taped score, never competed in public, and had the entire Twin Galaxies ref staff wrapped around his little finger was a bit much. Plus, they left out the fact that Wiebe's Funspot high score was reinstated within 2 days because Mitchell's tape was never supposed to be official submitted. It stood for a couple months afterwards before Mitchell took it back.
Btw, even though the documentary states that Wiebe later beat Mitchell's score, Mitchell has since then beaten Wiebe's score by a few thousand points, in public, with a ref, notary public, and a couple dozen witnesses all watching. Wiebe's gearing up for another go at it.
I hope that Wiebe kicks his ass. Despite whatever inaccuracies may exist in the film, you can't fake douche-baggery, and Billy comes across like the biggest, slimiest douche out there. That man deserves to have his ego obliterated, and I'd like to see a nice guy like Steve do it.
