First off, I'd like to state that I am now and always hate being ignored. I'm right here and I have an opinion based on my own experiences and I would appreciate if I can ask a question. At no point did I ever talk to Workman about my last post previous to putting it live or this one. I'm part of the community and as such, I'd imagine that I can contribute in any way I see fit, including questioning how something is done. So please, read this blog, my blog, as if I'm writing it.
I question this because I care and hold Destructoid at a higher standard than any other site. I don't goto Kotaku, Joystiq, or any other site cause I don't care about them. I love this place and it kills me to see quality being lowered for whatever reason. I don't care about the money I'm not here to start drama. I'm here out of love and loyalty.
I would also like to give thanks to Bryan "TazarthaYoot" Coffee who deserves all credit for 'matlocking' on Destructoids Review of Halo Wars.
To Jim Sterling
I apologies about my previous blog because I got a bit flustered and lost sight of my main idea. I didn't mean to make it personal and I'd imagine that it is harder to answer questions that were poorly made, so please allow me to rephrase my thoughts. What do you think about the multiplayer aspect of Halo Wars? What were some things you liked and disliked about any of the factions? Also, if you got a chance to play around with the skulls, what did you think of them? That's what I should have said off the beginning, but I dropped the ball. I read the revised review and it covers these better than the original.
Also, if anyone on staff heard something about Charlie, I'm sure he'd appreciate it if you talked to him directly before you make any judgments.
Oh, and if you missed it the first two times, Ron has nothing to do with any of this.
I should start reading the comments and not only the blog posts.
Cause I missed all the drama, or I should re check the: I understandu Engurish, option on my menu.
Incredible: I never took your last blog personally. I thought it was quite respectful. It was blunt, yes, but I'm the last person to complain about a lack of tact.
I'm pleased you brought it up. The drama side of this bullshit holds zero interest to me. I care about what our actual readers and fans think, and if they disagree that strongly with the way a review was handled, then I need to look at that.
Ultimately, my big mistake was reviewing an RTS. I misjudged what was important to those who made the genre. Mistake made, lesson learned. I'm still learning how to be a reviews editor, which is something I've said a few times before. Luckily, we have very vocal readers who are willing to help the learning process. :-)
I think I see both sides of this pickle. If Jim had played the whole game would his review have changed much? Probably not.
That said, I think most gamers consider finishing a game to be a necessary requirement and the industry standard for reviewing a game. When you hear that Andrew Fitch over at 1up is playing dozens of hours of Persona 4 to finish it before a review but Jim played a few hours of what probably ends up being a 10 hour game a reader can feel a little slighted. When you take into account that Fitch is probably working on a couple reviews and Jim is running the reviews department and posting stories on the front page like there is no tomorrow, it's easier to understand why he didn't finish it.
In the end it's about standards, and currently Dtoid might not be meeting the industry standard on this one. Maybe Jim needs more underlings (und-sterlings?) to be able to finish games Dtoid reviews (that's up to Nick and Niero). Whatever the "solution" some might feel the reviews are slightly more hollow until we are assured the reviewer gave their best effort to finish.
My issue was the multiplayer wasn't barely brushed on in the original review. Most of the replay value on this game is going to come from multiplayer, skirmishes and coop. That's a lot of ground to leave out of a review.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

I was getting tired of the whole Ron thing. I think it's high time we moved on to THAT DISGUSTING CHARLIE SUH.
Now I'm really upset I'm not on your friends list Az...Egg.
Your banner makes me shockingly hungry.
Blehman, you're not on my friends list? Well, we gotta change that!

Ron Workman touched my cat and it turned into a dinosaur.
THAT CHARLIESUH TOUCHED MY PRIVATE PARTS!!
Damn gurl!
Sorry, I guess I started it, but let's not turn Joe's post into a meme-fest.
I don't care, I started it by mentioning Ron's name. Because of that, theres gonna be very few people that really read this anyway.
All the post-review stuff reminds me of some phase in life that people normally go through earlier :D
I leave for FIVE MINUTES and look what you kids have done.
*shakes head*
People suck.
I should start reading the comments and not only the blog posts.

I still want to have a threesome with you and Tazar.

I like video games.
... Change your banner to something that doesn't make me hungry. Cause it just made me hungry. Blargh.
I <3 you.
Dude, play Shadowrun with us! You're the only Dtoider I ever actually got to play that game with in the olden days.
What are you talking about? The banner looks EXACTLY like Joe. Well, as I remember him from drunk DDR>
