I own all 3 current next gen ( the wii is questionable ) consoles, however the PS3 is the one getting all my attention for the most part. I enjoy writing as a side hobby and think a site like Dtoid is a good way to get your thoughts out to people with similar interests. Not in to drama or people being assholes just for the sake of it and i especially hate when people abuse the fuck out of MEMES. However i love talking about games and gaming culture as much as i can.
My PS3 full retail games list ( despite the "fact" that "teh delaystation 3 haz no gamez lolz" ):
Metal gear solid 4/online ( My personal goty ), Uncharted, Little big planet, Naruto uns, Valkyria chronicles, Prince of Persia, Burnout Paradise, Motorstorm, Midnight Club LA, gta snore, Devil may cry 4, Ninja gaiden sigma, Dbz burst limit, Soul Calibur 4, Virtua fighter 5, Assassins creed, guitar hero world tour and rockband, Call of duty 4: modern warfare, bioshock, Heavenly sword (underated is an understatement).
PSN downloaded games list:
Warhawk (simply put, amazing), Wipeout HD, Pixel junk eden and monsters, Tekken5 dr, Pain ( including expansions ), Flow, Stardust Hd, super puzzle fighter 2 turbo, Lemmings, Super rub-a-dub ( dont ask ), Crash commando, Loco roco, a bunch of eye toy games and that fish tank thing.
Im sure i missed out some games but im writing this from off the top of the dome.
Most wanted games:
Killzone 2, SF4 and Hd remix ( hurry the fuck up sony europe ), Uncharted 2, Heavy rain, Final fantasy versus 13 ( not being a fanboy, versus just looks better imho ).
Titles i missed out on but will check out sooner or later:
Fallout 3, Saints row 2, Cod:waw, Tomb raider underworld, mirrors edge, de blob, Far cry 2, Dead space.

Yeah i bought it around mid 2007 but i was smart enough to get a 3 year warranty on it, so it could of been a lot worse. However im almost positive i wont be getting my 60gb back.
I heard some stories of sony compensating people in my boat with games and controllers in return for loosing backwards compatibility, but good stuff only happens to american people... /cries :(
Weally? ok ill take your word for it.. //crosses fingers and goes back to playing ninja bread man//
Until it breaks.
Sucks dude. I would cry all day.
Don't count on them replacing it with a 60gb model. Since they've been out of production for a long time, more than likely you will get a 80GB model without bc. The 60gb model seem prone to fail for some reason but its always the blue ray drive. Sony is lazy also, instead of just giving you a new blue ray drive which is all it needs they will probably just fuck you and send the 80gb refurb.
@ETERNALDEATHSLAYER
Actually my 360 is currently beating my ps3 for most hardware fails by 3 - 1, which is why i gave up on that POS in the first place. I kinda turned to me ps3 when the 360 failed one too many times and really wasnt expecting to ever deal with the same shit again.
@ ATHIESTIUM
gameboy FTW! ive actually had a yellow and black game boy since 1995, i remember dropping it down the stairs and spilling curry on it and yet the bastard is still ticking.
yeah i think thats pretty much what will happen, im just hoping they at least acknowledge they are shafting me and compensate me a lil bit but very unlikely.
//downloads NXE
Anyways, good call with playing the hell out of your downloaded games before it gets sent off, I did the same thing.
Atleast in the US the turn around was pretty quick for me.
Yea i suppose that could work, as both models are priced around the same on ebay, but is it worth trading an 80gb under warranty for a used 60gb with no warranty at all. Just seems like too much of a risk just for backwards compatibility. The main priority is my PS3 games so its just not an option.
I guess its just slow due to the time of the year. Any other month the courier would be here tommorow im guessing. I must say tho that even with just downloaded titles i can still have a fucking great time on my ps3 which is testament to how much ps store content owns.
@silverdragon1979
Yeah when i spoke to the customer service lady it seemed she knew exactly about the error within the first 20 sec of me opening my mouth but still in comparison to all the troubles i had with my 360 this is nothing and i just cant wait till i can get gaming again.
@-PL-
Yeah basically the console works so its not firmware related, i can use all functions on it except for the blu-ray drive itself ( kinda important i know ). But yes i did restore factory settings and backed my data up just to be sure before i called sony.
Still, sorry to hear your PS3 breaking, hopefully it won't be TOO long until you get it back fully armed and operational.
Yes its completely free, and they acknowledged the fault was theirs and promptly apologised for it. I dont think i have ever encountered such an amazing customer service before. The lady i spoke to was really pleasant and spoke english as her first language (yeah i know).She even took my mobile phone number so the courier can SMS me exactly when hes about to arrive at my house. Im almost certain the whole process would be shorter if it werent for the fact it was the holiday season at the moment. But yeah anyway i couldnt really praise sony enough.
The re-furb is essentially a brand-new console, I would think it's preferable to a repaired one.
That BLLLLOWS!!!!!
(( Mine's a Out of Warranty 60gb ))
**Crosses Fingers** **Tighter!**
If you're not under warranty anymore, then they won't. Same as MS.
They both have shitty customer support, the difference is you don't hear about Sony support as much because the consoles don't break at a high rate.
Maybe play some Left 4 Dead in the meantime?
So the rep said 3 weeks? That puts me more at ease. People I talked to seemed to get theirs back rather quick so I was concerned.
Otherwise, you run the risk of getting something back that you didn't want.
Yep thats the exact problem. fried diode.
@crunshi and eternaldeathslayer
Yes Technically both companies will replace or repair as long as your under warranty, however from some one who has experienced both services i can at least say the call to sony was inifinately more pleasant and to the point than microsoft, where i found m self being redirected to an indian guy who i couldnt understand and then an incoherent scottish lady who asked for my address 5 times. You would think Microsoft having to deal with this shit every day non stop that they would have the most efficient service.
The main point is that Micorsoft know they are selling a faulty product from the start and just dont care, the first replacement microsoft sent me broke again within 2 weeks of me recieving it. With sony its just something that rarely happens, and they are well within industry standards for faulty hardware. Of course if my next ps3 craps out on me within a year again then i will retract that statement.
Well she said UP to 3 weeks, but that could be as i said before because of christmas holidays or thats just a window to cover their backs should there be delays. They gave me a reference number you should of got one too, you can call them up and tell the person your number and he will track the status of your ps3.
@ARRESTED DEVELOPER
Yeah well after trying everything else i just thought i would let it cool off overnight and see if maybe that was it. I wish my ps3 worked like a car :(
@QRAZE
Yeah thats a good proventative measure but once the drive stops reading discs it then a cd lens cleaner is useless.
@Luvmysegadc.
Well they pretty much tell you up front that a blu-ray drive fault means a refurb is the only way. It all depends on if the problem is dust or a fried diode. She did warn me there and then that i could loose it, but again my priority is playing PS3 games not PS2 ones so, so be it.
After doing a bunch of googling it does seem like this is problem more associated with the 60gb model. But i dont think its as widespread cos you know the fanboys would of had a field day already.
To all my fellow PS3 owners i do hope your consoles last as long as possible. Ill post an update on my situation (not that anyone cares) when the time comes.
