My predictions for the game of the year as of now.
The Frizz Nizz | 5:55 PM on 01.26.2008 14 comments

Here we go, The wizard will now give you his predictions for GOTY 2008. If I'm wrong, I give you the right to shoot me in the future. Unfortunately, I will definitely be right.

Now that I have drained my ego for the day, here is the list.

The 7 main nominees will be:

Brawl
FF XIII
MGS 4
Fallout 3
HL2 Episode 3 in whatever form it's released
GTA IV
Spore

Why will others lose?

-Fable 3 and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will both be too ambitious and trip over their own ambitions.

-Mafia 2 will have a cult following, but won't break out into the market and thus gain enough awards because of GTA IV.

-FF XIII Versus will be forgotten, even though it probably will be better than XIII, since many PS3 owners will only get one.

-Too Human will fail. Epicly.

-Alan Wake will become an amazing cult masterpiece that will eventually be deemed a classic, but will be ignored by the general populace.

-EA will take Tiberium and make it fail. I don't know how, but it will happen.

-Deus Ex 3 will be corrupted by the Kane and Lynch controversy, and fail miserably. MISERABLY!!!! That and the fact that eidos sucks at making games.

-Resident Evil 5 will be loved by many, but will ultimately fall behind due to a lack of an emotional punch as a work of art.

-Alone in the Dark and Silent Hill 5 will suffer from frustrating camera, combat, and general unacceptance by the common public even though many will love these games.

-Some new games will do awesome, but I have no clue what they are.

And the nominees will have this going for it:
- Brawl will be the ultimate party game and everyone will love it immediately. It will offer deep combat, good graphics, and many will say that it's different enough from the first two. However, it will not win GOTY overall by most sites.

-FF XIII will be huge. It'll sell the PS3 and make it a worthwhile venture. But overall, it will divide the community because of Versus. Soon, fanboys of both games will arise, and it will lose because those who loved Versus more will vote for other games.

-MGS 4 looks good, but lacks the ability to truly make it out into the mainstream audience. Critics will love it, but it will not strike a chord with the entire gaming commmunity due to its convulted story. Anyways, it will garner many wins as PS3 game of the year.

-Fallout 3 will be the king of the Western RPG this year. It will even trump FF XIII this year in my opinion. I mean, for crying out loud, it has Liam Neeson. And no emo, feminine looking heroes (Yea for real men).

-HL2 Episode 3 in whatever format it's released will be the deal of 2008. First of all, it'll have the conclusion to the greatest FPS game ever. (Yes, I said it was the best ever). But Valve has learned that they need to package it in some awesome new way. Therefore, it will come with at least the game Left4Dead (and if it doesn't, some other awesome multiplayer game). Seriously, why else do you think they delayed that game? Also, I believe we will see some form of a sequel to Portal in this package, or the portal gun itself in Episode 3. Then, Jesus will come again, since perfection will have been achieved in video gaming. However, it will not win GOTY.

-GTA IV. This game will be awesome. The music, everything. It'll be like playing GTA III for the first time. But that'll be the problem. It'll be so much like the others, it will not set itself apart as a game, limiting its ability to win GOTY. It will not win overall.

-Spore will change everything. Will Wright is one of the most important people in the industry today, and this game will be his masterpiece. It's the only game where you really play as God, and now you will be able to dominate the world. Say hello to the GOTY 2008, folks, since it will also not only be the most innovative and original game of 2008, but also just so awesome that no one will be able to ignore it.

GOTY 2008 overall- Spore.

My favorite game will be- Mafia 2 or Alan Wake or HL2 episode 3 (my favorites never win anyways).

Another lame most anticipated games list.
The Frizz Nizz | 5:30 PM on 01.26.2008 3 comments

Alright, so I was bored today and so I decided to try my hand at blogging. Therefore, here is my top ten most anticipated games list of 2008.

10 Splinter Cell: Conviction
I have loved Splinter Cell with a passion ever since the first one. In that game, I felt like a ninja, a rare feat in video games. Now after I get Conviction, I will get to be a ninja in real life without the black jumpsuit. YEA!!!

But in all serious terms, this game looks like assasin's creed in the modern world without the hokey story, which is a very good thing.

9 Brawl
The ultimate party game is coming, and once again, I will be able to even more epicly fail against my friends than I fail in guitar hero 3 (3% on expert of Knights of Cydonia. WOOT!!!). But anyways, this game just looks plain fun, and since everyone and their dog owns a Wii, this game won't be too hard to find for us Wiiless people.

8 FF XIII Versus
As the next FF game comes ever closer to release, the fanboys have begun salivating over XIII, but personally, I am much more excited about Versus simply because XIII looks like a rehash of every other FF game while Versus has a much more interesting and unique tone to it. I really think that Versus will have a better story and gameplay and everything over XIII, but it will never beat VI.

7 Tiberium
It's made by EA. I know. But maybe, just maybe, the devil will spare us the injustice of having a cool looking FPS not fail epicly. I mean, in this game, you can do a tactical slide thingy. It's awesome!!!

6 GTA IV
I have played very little GTA over the years, which is a shame. But let me put it this way, I can't stop watching the move up ladies trailer. And if that trailer is that addicting, think about the game itself.

5 Fallout 3
I was sold on this game in the trailer when they said "War, war never changes." You don't even have to tell me that Bethesda made this game, or that it is the sequel to some of the best Western RPGs ever, or that it has an awesome combat system in it, or that Liam Neeson does the voice over for your father. The future is here my friends. Video games are art and this will be a prime example of it.

4 Spore
Will Wright is a genius. He's made us God of the house, the streets, the people. Now the Universe. I love this guy.

3 HL2 Episode 3
It's episode 3. It's got Alyx Vance and DOG. It's the end of the story. It's got Alyx Vance and DOG. Need I say more? (@ Valve. Please don't kill Alyx, please please please.....)

2 Mafia 2
I loved mafia. Let me correct myself: Mafia is one of the best freakin games ever made. End of story. Yea, driving around got kinda boring, but here's to the sequel of one of the first examples of video game art. (And now that they've added a cover system, the game won't be so freakin' hard).

1 Alan Wake
Yes my friends, this game trumps every other game out their on my list. And why? Because it looks like one of the most original, brilliant, scar, and awesome games ever. EEEEVVVVEEEEERRRR. (Wow I'm an idiot with typing). Simply put, this game looks like it will be the next great work of video game art, even moreso than FF or MGS or HL2. And if there is any cynicism left in you, remember this:

These guys made MAX PAYNE.

'nuff said.

The End.
