So, I played with an IW developer today
The Co-Op Podcast | 1:47 AM on 04.19.2008 8 comments

They have XBL GamerTags like COD4[InsertFirstNameHere]. The guy I played with is named Todd from IW's own development team. Todd was really cool. I got his gamertag from a friend of a friend, and we sent him the message at about 8pm and asked for him to join us. Around 9:30 he sent us the message back saying "send the invite". He showed up right away and we were just fragging and chatting. Through playing with Todd, I was able to discover that the Livefire weekend is mostly for getting user feedback and interaction with the fans. The team wants to know how they can make their game better, and what better way to do that than to get it right from the players while playing the game itself?

Anyway, I had to slip in a few questions of my own. I asked him what other games Infinity Ward made/were working on beside the CoD series. I learned that the team that makes up Infinity Ward is actually the some of the same team that made Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. On the other side of the spectrum (aka, games yet to be concepted) Todd let us know that Infinity Ward had a project not related to Call of Duty at all. He couldn't tell us much beside the fact that there was something else and it wasn't Call of Duty.

Besides that, the guy was really cool. He tried to get fourzerotwo to play with us as well but 402 never got back to him. At about 11:15pm, Todd disappeared after being AFM (away from mic) for almost 15 minutes. We recon he either went to join another room, or just stopped playing (though it still shows he's online).

On a final note, I would advise against sending friend invites to COD4Todd. He does not accept friends requests from random people, even from people who he may play with during the LiveFire weekend.

Want an explanation behind Chessmasters Hip-Hop weekend?
The Co-Op Podcast | 11:48 AM on 04.14.2008 16 comments

http://hiphopchessfederation.org/

There you go. Apparently, there really exists an organization where Hip Hop meets Chess on a regular basis. You might be inclined to think that the HHCF (as they like to call themselves) only allows gold-chain wearing, slang talking, "gangstas" to participate, but boringly enough, it's more or less just another chess league whose starting grounds came about to encourage youths in poor, inner-city living and educational conditions to take on the most popular game of strategy of all time.

The organization instead now hosts a very diverse group of people, from black to white, and Asian to Indian. This doesn't come from nowhere, though. The HHCF doesn't only concern itself with blasting Dr. Knockboots to a wild game of war-bound checker-boarded destruction, it also puts a nice emphasis on martial arts.

I know I know, all this sounds similar to cooking up a horrible combination of foods in a dish (hot Cheetohs and Cream Cheese, anyone?). You don't have to remind me that I think it's probably the most sporadic thing ever, but isn't that what makes the world go 'round?
