This week is going to end on a pretty good note if I do say so myself. What do we have coming this Thursday? Well...
Killzone 2 DLC
I've seen this mentioned on Dtoid already so I won't talk about it a ton. "Napalm & Cordite" are the two new maps and with them we get the Boltgun and Flamethrower. Being a huge fan of F.E.A.R., when I found the Boltgun in Killzone 2 I has flashbacks of pinning guys to walls in hilarious positions and I can't say Kz2 let me down either. To use it in multiplayer will be fucking awesome. The Flamethrower...meh. Unless when you kill someone they die flailing around like an idiot like in the single player, it won't be as fun. :(
If you missed out on any of the maps, they are all wrapped up in a nice $11.99 package now too. Great deal if you haven't bought all of them already. *grumble*
WipEout HD - Fury
I was really late on getting into WipEout HD, which I'm sad about it. Priced at $20, I didn't think it was worth it until I bought it several weeks ago. The production value that went into that game is incredible. The single player is long, has plenty of modes to keep you busy, and the only play is some of the most intense racing I've ever seen. More then Burnout, which usually just ends in crashing into each other at high speeds. Only at the beginning of this week did I find out it would get some DLC tomorrow, and not from Dtiod. In fact, I haven't see anything about it here, which is a travesty.
"Fury" will bring a whole fuck-ton of new fun to WipEout HD. 8 new tracks, 13 new ships, and 3 new modes with two of them available for online play. Pretty much what DLC should be. Eliminator is a destruction derby mode with no laps, just a point cap. Zone Battle is Zone mode in multiplayer, but with a twist. You get a "zone bar" to either use as a boost bar or something to use to replenish your energy. It also sounds like opponents will have the ability to place obstacles to fuck you over pretty well. Detonator mode sounds like a shooting gallery on the track with mines and bombs you need to blow up as you race. Fun stuff.
Friday is the day tho. Not just because we have FNF, but because the next fighting game in "The Year of the Fighters" hits, King of Fighters XII!!! Street Fighter IV was a pretty good way to get the year started. Dtoid, especially the PS3 FNF crew, are totally obsessed with BlazBlue. King of Fighters XII will enter in all its glory on Friday, and hopefully we'll see some FNF action.
I've never played an SNK game extensively. I own Mark of the Wolves on XBLA, and I played it a good handful of times when I was in college, but never played a King of Fighters game. I'm not counting the times I played on GGPO, because that was more like training mode for the person I was playing against. I swear, if there is something bigger in China then gold farming, it's King of Fighters. There are always 200+ people in the KoF98 room on GGPO, and they are all Chinese and know what the hell they are doing.
Anyway, I'm excited. If you have WipEout HD and/or will have KoFXII on Friday, say so below and maybe we can get some action on PSN come Friday.
