"There goes another one of those crazy mofos who think video games are a form of art which can hold their own place next to giants like Music or Literature! LOL!"
Yup, I'm one of those people. I want games to be art, but I haven't seen much examples of it. Earthbound and Braid are taking the medium there, but I'm really starting not to care.
I recently read that the creator of Ico and Shadow of The Colossus doesn't think video game are art. I find that interesting, a game that many gamers consider art is not art in the eye of the man who created it. Also, there is a 6 min video on youtube of Kojima explaining why video games are not art, interesting stuff to say the least.

@VenusInFurs I'd love to see that article/video. That sounds damn interesting.
As for the games are art argument, we've been there. I suppose there's nothing wrong with kicking the deceased horse one more time, but only if you intend to come at it from a fresh angle. Maybe wait to write a blog until your answer is more defined than "I don't know?"
Also, I've never been a fan of assessing art by comparing it to other levels of art. Of course video games are not going to be up to the level of fine cinema and literature. Those mediums have had a hell of a lot more time to be crafted and elevated to artistic levels. Critique games by their own merits, because as a new medium, they need a whole new set of rules.
