At the first E3...
TentuX | 1:41 AM on 07.16.2008 5 comments

E3. One of the biggest expos in the history of gaming and ultimately the one location where gamers of all places come to see the latest and greatest in the virtual gaming community. Though over time it has gone more from a traditional gathering of new games, to a tug of war where developers throw gifts one way to promote their games that are far superior than the next. But i digress, E3 started with only a few companies and games that would provide the seeds for the next gen competition.

first thing i saw on google with 1995 searched....oh look its friends!

1995

Sega's precursor to the dreamcast!?

The time was 1995, the first E3 had started with Sega announcing the release of the saturn with the price tag of $399 trying to make up for its fall from 32X.

that expansion pak was hidden....

Also at this time Nintendo had released their newest project called "ultra 64" (later named nintendo 64) with its 64 bit processor and its innovative control scheme revealed a unprecedented step into 3D gaming.

red and black. red and black. red and black.

Of course this was also the time they had released the virtual boy console witch left many people with headaches both from the games and the system itself.

also came the start of black CD bottoms

Sony had their start here with the release of the Playstation home entertainment system. They vowed to show that CD-roms were the best medium to play console games.

Kinda looks like a VCR with a controller....you do remember VCR's right?

We also see the release of the 3DO system the M2, powered by a PowerPC 602 processor was actually far more advanced for the time, unfortunately due to thier library of games and lack of support , it didn't really get so far.

Just a few of the games released:
Biohazard (PSX)
Twisted Metal (PSX)
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Dracula X (Snes)
Vectorman (32X)
Virtua Cop (Sega)
Wipeout (PSX)
Ace Combat (Sega)
Tekken (Sega)
Ridge Racer (Sega)
EarthBound (SNES)
Killer Instinct (SNES)
Donkey Kong Country 2 (SNES)
Donkey Kong (GB)
final fantasy 3 (SNES)
Secret Of Mana (SNES)

(notice how all the most epic games came out during this time.)

Or of course you can see all the action that happened right here:

left 4 dead to have dedicated servers...and a little HL2: EP3
TentuX | 9:54 PM on 05.21.2008 7 comments

i sent an email to valve regarding the lag issues on TF2 on the 360.. i also asked what was being done on HL2: EP3.(i asked if headcrabs are gonna be called snow crabs) this is what he said

Hello Tentu,

Thanks so much for you kind words, it’s always nice to hear when someone enjoys a product that we worked so hard on! Your question about dedicated servers for TF2 is a good one, but I don’t really have a good answer. It would be very difficult at this point to make a change like that in a title update. That said, we are exploring a dedicated server option for Left 4 Dead, and there’s always the possibility that we could bring that back to TF2. The best advice I can give you right now is to find some good hosts that have decent connections and don’t drop games, and stick with them as much as possible.

All I can say about EP3 is that there is some very exciting work going on right now. Is that enough of a tease?
