Cover Bands, man there is nothing worse than meeting your friends at a bar only to find out from th door guy that you have to pay a 5 to 10 $ cover just because you are about to be forced to listen to some crappy cover band. Which is probably chuck full of a bunch of guys who haven't yet realized that highschool ended years ago. So here you having just dropped cash and now they're ruining your favorite Tom Petty song. Tell me we all haven't been in that postion once or twice. Left, having to decide if hanging out with your friends is more important than your ears being raped. At least with Kareoke having people destroy a song is funny, especially if they're drunk.
I wish I lived in a place where I could hear the cover bands that matter to me play live. I am talking of course of the ever awesome VIDEOGAME COVER BAND. There are so many awesome ones out there and you can usually find most of them with just a little homework. The Advantage, The NESkimos, The Mini Bosses, Powerglove, and Vomitron are only the beginning to name just a few. There are small groups popping up every where in the country. Just not the midwest yet, that i know of anyway.
But all these bands I have listed have a great fan following and all verge on metal and techno of course. Which is right up my alley, but for those of you with more sensitive ears worry not. Just check some of the awesome Chiptune composers out there. Bit Shifter, 8-bit Weapon, Dubmood, and Handheld offer a variety of awesome sauce music for the gamers inside all of us. Plus wth band names like all of these how can you not check them out.
So while looking some of these up if you're interested at all, please try first to buy what you can find these guys are pandering to us an they deserve or gamer cash. But if you can't find them to buy then by all means pirate them because your ears will thank you. Enjoy and let me know what you think.
PEACE , LOVE, AND 8-BITS
JOE
Some others I know of but haven't seen live Game Over (go Sweden!), The Protomen (about to see them April 28!).
