I can never treat Friday the 13th in the same light hearted way as before.

You might have noticed by reading the FNF post, Friday was a bad day for me. It was only just the 13th when it happened, as if it was waiting for it that sarcastic bastard. I was just playing a video game when I heard 3 short beeps. It was my black shiny beast. It was sending out Morse codes in a desperate manner trying to get rescued. It never got further than the "S". I couldn't just say "Oh well it's dead. Let's buy a new one.". No sir. That's why I made this short reconstruction of how it happened and how I tried to rescue it.

As Shipero noted I kept the Dtoid tradition of having credits longer than the actual video. But I still pretty sure that I have missed someone. You see, I've got no video editing skills and no PC who could handle a program which could actually do something. So I had to use Windows Moviemaker. It wouldn't let me add more text. I couldn't even mention the second partial song was: Starsailor - Way to Fall. So don't be sad if you're not on the list. You'll always be in it's heart. It's cold dead heart but still.

It's no secret that I love the PS3 very much but this exact one was special to me. I don't blame it for dying but a warning would be nice. I guess it was too proud to give up. But with a slight suggestion of being ill I could at least save all my data. I don't care about the songs, the movies and game data. But I do care about some save files. Actually just a single one. LittleBigPlanet. I will enjoy playing all the other games again, that's why I bought them in the first place, but LBP is a different story. The published levels are still stored on the servers of course but what about those unpublished levels in progress? All gone. That was a lot of work and something I can never recreate. So Haxan my friend, consider yourself lucky, you're the only one who has seen them all. Maybe I can recreate one of them. But that's only if I can find all the calculations I made.

Only one of you has actually played on it but many of you have played with it. Show me his death wasn't in vain.

Farewell CECH04. I will miss you forever.

Much love,
Takeshi.

I hope my dear CECHC04 never dies on me as I wouldn't be able to handle it.
good luck and please be back to us ASAP.
our friends' list feels empty without the clank-avatared dutchman
I am sorry for your loss. Hope you get back soon.Good Luck and godspeed, and May the Force be With You
No console in the world ever plays what it wants and that is beautiful.
Every console dies overheated and sad and that is beautiful.

(LMAO!! If only Clank's time reversal sceptre worked in real life! Though it's a sad topic, I did laugh at that part!)

So sorry for your loss (and a good reminder to do back ups which I will do tomorrow!). Any chance of getting it fixed? (in which case maybe your data will still be there), or are you looking at just waiting and picking up a Slim at some point?
@Shipero
Our PS3's are playing tag now in heaven. Which makes me sad and happy at the same time.
So sad T_T. Hopefully you can get that fixed in a timely fashion. And that really sucks to lose all your LBP saves. I know I've put about 20 hours into my still unpublished level and can only imagine how much time combined you've put into your works of gold. Stay strong!
@Elsa
Thank you! And thank you for laughing :D

The sad (and stupid) thing is I've said so many times "I need to make a back-up soon" but I never did.

If I send it to Sony they will replace my console with another one. I'll still get a 60gig back but I won't save my data. I need to try and resurrect it so I can save some data and deactivate accounts.

I'm gonna buy a Slim pretty soon and try to revive my fat one. I don't care about B/W compatibility. I've got 3 PS2's so I'll be fine.

@CelicaCrazed
Thanks. Yeah those levels man. I was thinking about the other save files and I don't care about those. Then all of a sudden I remembered LBP. The day got a lot darker all of a sudden...
It was a pleasure and an honor to play by your side sir.
The thirteenth of November is bad enough for me, it's my sisters birthday.
I got mine fixed by an independent company, and got it back with everything on my hardrive intact. It also cost about half the price that Sony wanted. I'd try that route.
I knew something was wrong before FNF's Post...
Here was my clue. According to the Online Stats Profile.

(( Takeshi only played 10Minutes of COD:MW2!!! ))

:(
Blame CANA...activision
@Linuxguy
Bin Laden did it. Next time you see him kick him in the nuts.
i'm very sad for your loss. i hope you can everything back that you've lost. video made me sad.
WHO'S THE ONE WITH THE BROKEN CONSOLE NOW BIATCH!!

Just kidding, but after being mocked to death by PS3 fanboys a man need to enjoy his chance. Anyway, sorry for your loss, in fact, i don't know why are you so calm. When i lost my PS2 Memory card i seriously considered suicide.
Best of luck on LBP.
I'll be sure to pour out a 40oz for him tonight. He'll be missed.

I just wish I had seen him before he went. I haven't played PS3 online since KZ2.

Sorry for the loss dude.
A silly question but did your HDD die or your actual console? You might be able to mount that HDD into a Linux install and pluck the data files off of it. My now-dead Vista drive is that way - I can't boot into Windows with it but I can still mount and access the drives via Linux. It's just a longshot...
I shed a single tear for your fallen comrade.

Also I just turned off Ratchet and Clank a minute ago and that crono sceptre had me in stitches.
Fare-de-well old friend. I'm sorry I haven't been on in a long time and active, TF2 is the cause, it's like a cancer. Plus you know what it's like to have bad internet (or a bad connection on the PS3 anyway).

I'm sure you'll find some fix to get it all back. The PS3 FNF's look a bit lonesome, I'm sure they aren't though, would be nice to get back in there, maybe this Friday. Most of the games I don't have :/ I need like a list of everyone's games so I know what to get :)
HAHAHAHA RRo-

Wait...
Sorry for your loss Takeshi. You know this exact same thing happened to me, so I feel your pain.

What's worse is the replacement PS3 Sony sent me runs far worse than my original one, so I'm worried this might happen all over again. In fact my PS3 won;t even play Blu-Ray movies anymore. Might have to upgrade (or downgrade since I have an original 60gb) to a Slim, but at least it will be quiet and cool.

Can't wait til you're back online. Just don't use this as an excuse as to why you're getting destroyed in MW2 :)
Dude, that's harsh man. You have my condolences.

Also, kudos for using the same song that was used in the MGS3 credit roll.
The short amount of time I spent playing Burnout Paradise on this beloved machine will not be forgotten. Maybe you fed it to many delectable cheese sandwiches. Your PS3 was a glutton.
Thanks everyone. Also, I'm sure it's not the HDD.

@Ha-Puken
I should've told it to quit smoking. That selfish, reluctant bastard refused.
I'll mourn your loss by playing my still working Playstation 3.
@Sadistic
All those pics you send me are lost too. Fuck, I forgot about them.
The body may die but the spirit lives on inside all of us. Sorry for your loss man.
Aw man, the PS3's don't have many problems -- I guess this was just your console's time. :( I hope everything ends up working out in the end.
I feel your pain. My PS3 disc drive just died last week. Still haven't decided what to do about it.

At least I still have the hard drive.
Fuck, dude. Is there no way of retrieving the data from the harddrive?

While it is something of an amazing honor to have been the only one privy to your unfinished levels, it's certainly not an honor that I want to carry. I really hope that there's a way to salvage them. It would be a shame otherwise. I could tell that you put a trillion hours of time into their construction and at least an equal amount of time of thought into them.

I really hope that it all works out, my friend. I know grieving is hard. If you ever need a shoulder to lean on, I offer up mine.
If it's any consolation, mine was rudely stolen from me and is now used to play Tekken 6, a game I sourly hate.

Sorry man.
@Jonathan
That sucks too. A blu-ray drive isn't the worst thing that can happen though. If I'm correct they're fairly easy to fix/replace. But easy or not, it shouldn't happen in the first place. I'm sorry for your loss too.

@Haxan
Your shoulder. Now!

@Daxelman
WTF? That's more fucked up than anything! Although I kinda know how you feel, my PS2 got stolen by some crack junkie.

@Everybody else
Thank you for the kind words. I'm looking into getting my files back and/or reviving my precious. I'll let you know if and how I managed.
Sucks my friend, I've been there myself, not a happy time, mine crapped out on the eve of the Dark Knight Blu-Ray release. Vid made me chuckle, good luck with whatever you decide to do to get yourself back up and running.
Sorry for the empty post, Takeshi you may try to put your hdd on another ps3, you can recover some files this way.
Depression, it has reached me.
Well, actually, I know who took it, and it is a tad bit my fault, but still, I feel like I'd been robbed when I found out he was using my account to play Tekken.

Of all things, fucking Tekken. He could have played UP for all I care, but Tekken?

I feel damaged. Not as damaged as you probably feel, but damaged.

Also, try backing up the HDD somewhere, somehow. I know from first hand, when they switch out your harddrives, not everything makes the jump.
@Daxelman & Speedxl
Yes switching hard drives will not work. I will just say "Hey this isn't the PS3 it was in! Let's format this bitch!" So no. I will have to find another way. I will try to revive it first.
Yeah that really sucks man. I hope your able to join us soon for some more FNF very soon. I will pray for you and your deceased PS3.
Fuck that upscaler. What about the PS3 itself? But yeah I see what you mean though.

Dude I just fired up the old PS2 again immediately freaked the fuck out! It's sooooo noisy! I thought it was dying as well.
Damn! Hope you will have some kind of warranty and that you're able to restore your data under some arcane OS or something ;(
so much for the ps3 not dying , everyone keeps cribing how the xbox red rings to death
Takeshi, you will be missed and so will your glorious king of kings. May he rest easy. I took a moment to remember all the good times with that PS3; mostly me owning you, but good times nonetheless.
@Pikey
"Takeshi please help me defeat this boss in Borderlands. I'm getting raped over and over again!" Yeah good times indeed.
Unfortunately, even if you back up the data on an external Hard-Drive, LittleBigPlanet data is copy-protected and won't transfer to other consoles. I had the same thing happen to me when I had WIP LBP levels that ended up getting lost when I transfered from an original PS3 to a PS3 Slim.
@the7k
Thanks for the info on that. I will just have to forget about that then and move on.
I blame Kotick & Kotaku, therefore, it is Kotakuck's fault. >:(
sorry for the loss, I wouldn't be able to handle it if my ps3 dies on me.. and tnx for everything
@Shipero

I see you there with your TMBG reference.
