Another one of these posts, but from someone's who's actually played the game!

First. uh.
Hi, yeah, I signed up just for the EO2 contest, and I feel like a tiger in London here. That is, tigers aren't normally in London..so...uh...I don't know what I'm trying to say, actually!(note:I do not live in the UK) o_O

Anyways. My most memorable experience is a hard choice, since I've beaten the game twice...but...I'll think I'll go with my misadventure in fighting the first boss the first time I played the game! Sorry to those afraid of long stories, I'll try and segment this to be slightly less...wall of text-like. Still will be very long though, blargh.

So after being given the quests to go fight a giant wolf pack and kill the leader of it once I reached the third floor, I once again stepped into the green labyrinth. After finally defeating all the deadly as hell FOE Wolves on the fourth floor, turning back and healing, and then doing the same for the fifth floor, I warped back to town for a cautionary save before I went back down further and rushed into the boss's chamber.
...
An eerie warning message popped up accompanied by some spooky music, letting me know I was in the boss's lair. As if the giant black FOE 4 steps before me didn't let me know, thanks.
...
There where other orange FOEs in the room, but I just rushed right at the black fuzzy circle of doom, aka FENRIR. My fight with Fenrir was going just slightly above "ok"...until all the twenty-something Skolls FOEs came marching into battle. One by one they joined the fray. My poor Protector dood and Lanskecht girl in the front row were quickly torn apart and became dogfood. My Survivalist, Alchemist got killed quickly, and then Medic took heavy damage. Somehow she was still alive...until the next turn. Most likely soiling her knickers to the very end, she was the last one to die an excruciating death, and end up on the unfortunate side of the Yggdrasill's Labyrinth food chain. Argh.

I realized what the problem was. I wasn't weak, that's for sure. I was careless. I had no strategy before or doing the battle. I promptly tried again, running back down to the 5th floor, and entered again. After I opened the door, I took a moment to assess the situation after the warning message and spooky music. I of course knew the room was full of enemies. I knew that I could lure FOEs by walking in front of them. I noticed the way the room was shaped, and that after I defeated 1 FOE, I could try and lure Fenrir over there. I quickly engaged and tore into the southwest Skoll. After killing it, I walked up to the Black FOE of death, and stopped in front of him. I quickly started going backwards, and he followed! I back myself into the deepest corner of them room, and fought him there.

So, I had to actually pay attention outside of battle to succeed..I liked it. A pleasant change from so many of the other mindless "run in and attack" games. But I still remembered...I had to actually kill Fenrir now that I had lured him. My Protector used Defender to increase everyone's defense, my Lanskecht attacked away after having an item that added fire to her attacks, my Survivalist used her skills to increase everyone's evasion and speed, my Alchemist conjured forth fire, and my medic sat healed everyone best she could. I finally killed him before the other reinforcements came close..and they all vanished! I had triumphed over the big bad white wolf...tiger...thing!

WHEW. What a long story. But that crucial series of events made the game for me. I so do hope EO2 is full of more of the same.

tl;dr:
First boss owned me hard, then I owned him. It was satisfying.

Another Contest person, deal with it. Or flame away, I don't care.

Ok ok, argh. I'm some guy who signed up for the EO2 contest, but I like crappy games like Dynasty Warriors. That should speak for itself eh? If it doesn't, I also like GAROU...Mark of the Wolves. See, I do have taste.

Also, ask me anything you wanna know about the historical Taira Shogunate. Oh wait, there wasn't one. Damn it.

Oh yeah, I'm from USA. One of the crummier states. ;)
