About Me
Myself:

I am a Ph. D. chemisty from the University of California, Berkeley and current West Coast Community Manager and Fight Manager. I have been playing videogames since as long as I can remember! My past favorite games include Secret of Mana, TMNT: Turtles in Time, the Resident Evil series (Jill is SUCH as master of unlocking), FFVII, Smash Bros Melee, and many others.

I've definitely gone through phases in my gaming "career". I used to LOVE fighting games in the time of Tekken Tag and Marvel vs Capcom II (my favorite fighting game), but now I find myself drawn to the more story driven games, and very recently, the music games....:)

But....fighting games are making a comeback! SFIV! MvC3! BlazBlue! Beware everyone, Tactix has put a quarter on the screen and is challenging you for battle!

Current games I'm playing:

Marvel vs Capcom 3
Dead Space 2
Find Mii (:P)

It was mere chance that brought me to Destructoid back in early 2007, and through it all I've stayed because of the great writing staff, a community that cares, and lots of new internet and IRL friends. Destructoid has changed my life. True story.

I'm also now the West Coast Community Manager who leads DtoidSF and helps coordinate Dtoid groups all over the world. So hit me up if you have any concerns about starting a new group, or where the group nearest to you is! :D

GDC '09: Destructoid knows how to party
Jesse Cortez | 2:20 AM on 03.31.2009 27 comments

The Game Developers conference has come and gone, and Destructoid has been working hard to keep you up-to-date with all the latest news....

...but look, Destructoid also drinks. And therefore I bring you pictures of how Destructoid likes to get down!

On Friday, Destructoid decided to have a GDC Awesome Karaoke Party at Annie's Social Club...I arrived at 7:00 PM with Naia and met up with Dyson, Nick Chester, R3y, and Dale North. As the guests arrived and the drinks started flowing, the singing commenced. Here are some of the song choices: Naia and I sang "You Oughta Know"....Ben PerLee sang "Stacy's Mom". Dale North introduced us to "I Believe I Can Fly" complete with inserting the word "bitch" throughout the song. Rev Anthony gave us a great rendition "Don't Stop Me Now". Nick Chester made me cream my pants with his awesome singing skills. And of course, I sang "Billie Jean" complete with fedora flipping and moonwalking on the stage :D :D

Later on in the night, CliffyB and the Mega64 guys showed up. I didnt get a chance to talk to either as I was A) really drunk and B) kinda too busy being a karaoke star! Tia-Marie, the community manager for Justin.tv actually recorded my performances, so if I get a hold of them, I'll be sure to pass them your way :P

Anyway here are some pictures!

Who's the drunkest in this picture?

The next evening was the GDC After-After Party at the Casa de Dyson. Going to this party was really special to me, because it marks the one year anniversary that I've been active with Destructoid. When I came to the party last year, the only person I knew on Destructoid was Dexter345 who had invited me the day before. Little did he and I know how my life would change due to going to that party. (You can read my excitement on my first C-blog here). Fast forward to this year, and I've made friends with SO MANY Dtoid community members, staff, and industry people. My life is so much more epic now :D

The Dyson party was as epic as last year. Ben PerLee made some sour skittles vodka that was a pretty big hit. Suff0cat took his first shot for a dollar. Jonathan Ross got so drunk that he doesnt remember licking my face. At the party, Rock Band 2 and Street Fighter 4 were going on in different rooms, and a modded Xbox was available to play in the bathroom. I just have to mention that the Xbox was epic because it had the TMNT IV: Turtles In Time ROM on it! BEST GAME EVER!! <3 <3 <3

Here are some pictures of the Dyson extravaganza!

TURTLES IN TIME!

It's pretty late and Ben PerLee is passed out!

Jonathan Ross denies any knowledge of this happening...he's lying.

Lots of us stayed at the party until 4:00 AM, at which point we took a cab back to my place. Suff0cat, Bleach Boy and I attempted to watch Zombie Strippers and ended up passing out at 6:00 AM.

All in all, it was an epic weekend, and further cements the fact that Dtoid knows how to party. I had a great time and cant wait for the next Dtoid get together! <3

Why is there a giant steampunk robot standing behind tiff? I wonder if she and Tactix know that is there ... :/

Had an effin' blast on Friday night. So much fun. Too bad we couldn't get Cliff to sing "Toxic."

That looks like so much fun. Living in the South East sucks.

I can't imagine Anthony doing karaoke. That seems like a sign of the apocalypse.

When you stay up until 6 in the morning, while drinking and still having fun, you know you had a good time!
Gotta love that, man!

Really wish I could have been there. We had a good time down here, but it wasn't nearly as epic as a Dyson GDC party.

The good Reverend looks like he's really emotional about the song he's singing. Ben PerLee looks like a baby Niero in the rooftop picture.

omg, I can't believe I missed this post. Great post Tactix. I also have to say, I look damn good in that rooftop pic, and that's the second time I've heard I look like Niero. It's a compliment to us both, I'm sure.

Also, was that a pocky stick you pic on my face? I was really sleepy, and I don't remember
