About Me
Myself:

I am a Ph. D. chemisty from the University of California, Berkeley and current West Coast Community Manager and Fight Manager. I have been playing videogames since as long as I can remember! My past favorite games include Secret of Mana, TMNT: Turtles in Time, the Resident Evil series (Jill is SUCH as master of unlocking), FFVII, Smash Bros Melee, and many others.

I've definitely gone through phases in my gaming "career". I used to LOVE fighting games in the time of Tekken Tag and Marvel vs Capcom II (my favorite fighting game), but now I find myself drawn to the more story driven games, and very recently, the music games....:)

But....fighting games are making a comeback! SFIV! MvC3! BlazBlue! Beware everyone, Tactix has put a quarter on the screen and is challenging you for battle!

Current games I'm playing:

Marvel vs Capcom 3
Dead Space 2
Find Mii (:P)

It was mere chance that brought me to Destructoid back in early 2007, and through it all I've stayed because of the great writing staff, a community that cares, and lots of new internet and IRL friends. Destructoid has changed my life. True story.

I'm also now the West Coast Community Manager who leads DtoidSF and helps coordinate Dtoid groups all over the world. So hit me up if you have any concerns about starting a new group, or where the group nearest to you is! :D

DtoidSanFrancisco Meetup Recap [w/ video]!
Jesse Cortez | 9:59 PM on 11.25.2008 2 comments

Hey!

This weekend some of the members of DtoidSanFrancisco kidnapped Aerox for a grand old time in the city. Our group consisted of myself, Aerox, Topgeargorilla, Husky, Bleach Boy, Guttlesswonder, and Kapkomi. Despite the fact that myself, Topgear, and Aerox were slightly late, and Husky even MORE so (<3!), it was a lot of fun.

We started off by going to the Tilt arcade in the Metreon. I, of course, schooled all challengers in Marvel vrs Capcom 2 (:D). The Tilt arcade is pretty crappy, and thats being optimistic. Poor Bleach Boy was getting tokens eaten left and right, Aerox discovered the up didn't really work on SNK vs Capcom, and when we arrived, there were WAY too many screaming kids.

But the one bright spot of the arcade, and the main reason I am writing this blog, is to show the video below. There was an amazing horse riding game which required expert "riding". Now this game is meant to be played by one, but as you can see in the video, two can DEFINITELY play at that game.

After the arcade, we had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. Despite the hour+ wait required to get it and the waiter who did NOT deserve the tip he got.....the food was DELICIOUS. Guttless didn't realize how much money ordering a shot of Tequila and a shot of Jager together would be and Topgear had a Long Island that was completely worth every dollar in entertainment for the rest of us. After dinner, those of us that could, took the BART back to my place, where we continued the drinking and played Brawl.

As always, I had a great time with everyone, especially Guttlesswonder and Bleach Boy, who I met for the first time that day. I look forward to the next DtoidSF event!

Also, cocks.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
