Every day the same dream
I just recently read a c-blog post made by
Beyamor for an indie game called Every day the same dream.
I've never heard of this game before until I just happened to see the title of his blog and the name interested me so I clicked on it.
He starts his blog off in a really cool way sort of making it like a journal of someone who lives through a life that's portrayed in the game.
Once I saw an image of the game I stopped reading and went and played it until I beat it so I wouldn't have to worry about spoilers.
I'm not gonna talk about the game here so much, as Im going to talk about how it made me think of my own life.
You can play the game by clicking on the link at the beginning of this blog or you can just keep reading and play it afterwards since there is very minor spoilers.
The story of the game is basically that you live through the boring and repetitive life of a cubicle worker. Everyday is the same thing. Get up, get dressed, tell your wife bye, go to the elevator, drive to work, get yelled at by boss, walk to your cubicle, and then repeat it all the next day. The object of the game is to find ways to sort of, change up the routine that is seemingly set in stone.
This game sort of got me thinking about my own life, the life of a student in school. Sure its not as mundane as the life showed to us in the game. But it gets you thinking about what sort of little, almost meaningless things, you can do in your own day to day life, to switch things up and sort of give yourself a little taste of something new.
A day to day routine of my own, would be something like. Wake up, shower, get dressed, go to school, come home, eat dinner, homework, bed. Sure there's a few hours in between things after I get home which is spent, playing a video game or watching t.v or something. But that's something that happens EVERYDAY after school. This is about thinking of little, new things, that you don't normally do to add a little spice to your life.
Its sort of hard to talk about the next part without spoiling the game. So here is my best attempt. Imagine your day to day life. Now think of some tiny, almost meaningless thing involving, lets say nature. Think of one little thing you could do that relates to nature that would just sort of, add a little something to your day. For instance, you come across a tree that doesn't have very many leaves on it. Whether their green, red, orange, yellow, brown, you take particular notice to this tree. As you stand there looking at the tree, a leaf starts falling right in front of you, and you catch it, and look at it. You could stick it in your pocket and take it with you, or throw it back up into the air and see where it lands. Either way, you just did a little meaningless task that may have made your day just a little bit better. That's the kind of stuff this game got me thinking about.
I encourage everyone to try playing this game all the way through. I got stuck at one point and it took me awhile to figure it out, but I eventually did it. Just take the time to think about the game and your own life routine.
Comments are always appreciated.
