I couldn't resist posting this. I've been tinkering with a program called
FamiTracker, which you can use to make NES style chiptune music. I figure it as a way to get back to musical basics - I've written music for years and years but for a long time I've been out of inspiration. Well, the first computer music I really listened to was on the NES, and the first software I ever used to make music was a tracker on the Amiga, so I thought by combining the two things from way back when I got started, I might come up with something. Here's the result of my first efforts, and I'm pleased with how tongue-in-cheekly Megaman-y it turned out!:

I guess it worked! I think it's true with anything where you're suffering a block, that it can help to pare everything down to the absolute basics of what you need to get on. The challenge of suddenly being limited after previously having all sorts of options seems to kickstart creativity.
I think I'll work in this format for quite a while longer.
