Hmm. It is unreasonable to expect a hit of instant love from any community, let alone the Destructoid community. I'm hardly a veteran of this site, but I know that the members of this community who receive the most love are the members who contribute the most.
Furthermore, you were Failtoided because that day's recapper genuinely believed that your article should have been Failtoided. It was his/her personal opinion, nothing less -- you simply can't attempt to alter somebody's opinion, and you can't criticise it.
In addition, your 'obvious satire' was evidently not as well-received as you would have hoped. I really think that your comment was out of order -- I did not see it, but if somebody senior saw fit to delete it then you obviously crossed the line between satire and simple, unwarranted attack. Sure, the news had been on the web for a few hours, but what of it? I would imagine that the life of a gaming journalism is hectic and very, very stressful -- Jim Sterling was simply doing his job and providing the Destructoid community with gaming news. Your 'satire' was completely unnecessary, and your comment was rightfully deleted.

they rarely delete comments here (even if they are a bit trollish) and it could be that your account had been deleted (which would likely delete the comments as well as any previous blogs). The reason for the account deletion could have been "advertising" if your stuff was all copy/paste from another site.
See when most of your blog posts are simply copy/pasta from another site, it just uses up space on the c-blogs. It bumps other blogs off the front page. It may not be specifically against the rules (though advertising likely is), but it's definitely frowned on by most of the community. If everybody started pimping their work from other sites on Dtoid, we would very quickly lose our sense of community and would become similar to other sites where blogs are lost on the site amid a plethora of advertising, copy/paste, and other such crap.
If this is the only site where you post your blog, you also have to act like this is the only site where you post your blog - many of your previous posts are very impersonal and read like they are written for somewhere else. There is an odd sense of disconnect on reading much of your work. It might be just better suited to another site, or it could be that you need to make some stylistic changes to better fit in here on Dtoid. To start, you may want to rethink using a common blog for two people - just write as yourselves. Yes, there are other groups of people that write under a common Dtoid ID, but it's usually done for a community purpose like Commentoid, which is written by differing members - all well known members. There's a bit of pretention about writing a blog as two people and identifying the writer, like what is done on a gaming site - and it adds to the feeling of disconnect from the community and that much of what is written could be found elsewhere on the net.
In short, your blog doesn't seem "special" to Dtoid... and it gets that same respect from the Dtoid community. It's harsh, but it's also one of the reasons that Dtoid IS such a great community.
Meh, you'll do what you want, but there is some writing talent there, only we don't care. To write well for a site, you'll do better to write "for" that site, and to get to know the community better. As I said, you might start by deciding if you want to blog for Dtoid or elsewhere... because continued copy/paste will just get you ignored.

Basically what Elsa said. You can't just expect love and a following without connecting with your audience. Your audience here is comprised of Dtoid community members, who generally do not appreciate copying and pasting from another blog (or blogs written in a manner than can be copied/pasted anywhere and fit the mold). The community here likes to know about you - about your thoughts, your ideas, etc. If it's not the type of format you prefer then Elsa is right - this may not be the place for you.
I generally agree with what Lord Death of Murder Mountain said. But I'll add my two cents as well.
It's only human that you crave some sort of attention. And really, no matter the purpose of a blog, we always want people to read it. We want other to react to our comments, to share their opinions just like we have and we yearn for some recognition for our work.
That said however, you should never write anything in the hopes or the purpose of getting attention. That should only come as an afterthough. Write only for your enjoyement, for your passion and for your readers.
Also, I understand why you're so upset about this failblog thing. It was not in any way indicative of your abilty or the quality of your review. It was because you used this community as an outlet to promote your work. You were punished for that and that alone.
No one expects that you sell your soul to us, but we do expect you to treat us with some respect. This is called a community blog for a reason, it is by this community and for this community only.

@Elsa- The original plan was for both of us to be far more active and write a whole lot more, but that pesky little "life" thing got in the way, so we don't have time to write as much as we'd like, but we try. And we do try to write "for" Destructoid because we're quirky that way. We're passionate about video games and we try to convey that as best we can without going really overboard.
@Lord- I get your point about opinions, I wasn't trying to change it, you missed the point. The point was that I get it. Make no mistake, I'm not attacking anyone here, and I'm not really expecting instant web-worship, I'm not that egotistical. Really. And as for criticizing opinions, that's what they're for, it's just that usually that turns into some flame war that I want no part of because it serves no real purpose. Case in point, your whole idea of "I didn't read your comment but that won't stop me from telling you it was out of line". What was posted wasn't some profanity and bigoted-insult laced tirade against Nintendo or Sterling or ostriches, merely a bit of a playful observation. But that gets yanked and the profanity and bigoted-insult laced tirades stay put. Just saying that was a bit off, that's all.

You may not have been trying to change the recapper's opinion, but you certainly criticised it -- refer to my previous point. In addition, you are attacking someone -- the recapper and whoever deleted your comment. If you aren't expecting instant web-worship, then why do you feel the need to whine about how you aren't recognised? Also, you can't criticise opinions -- they are individual and very, very personal. I realise that your comment 'wasn't some profanity and bigoted-insult laced tirade against Nintendo or Sterling or ostriches, merely a bit of playful observation', that was not my point. My point was that your 'satire' evidently wasn't as hilarious as you thought it was -- your comment sounds like the sort of snarky statement which would really, really annoy me personally after a long day. Perhaps your comment irked Jim Sterling in the same manner?
I've never heard of SuperCouch before. Who are you guys? I'm sorry that I can't really sympathize with the main gist of this blog because I have no context.
I've posted articles that only get a handful of comments. They'll be articles I thought were really well written, nicely formatted, etc. You're not alone in that regard.

It really helps if you are more active throughout the site. Front page, forums, c-blogs, chatoid, JTV channel, FNF....there's a lot of micro-communities throughout the site and helps to be active on a few of them so that you can build a bond with some of the other users. Just posting blogs, as good as they may be, really doesn't give people the motivation to read your work if they don't know you. It's why the forums, and c-blogs to a degree, force you to make introductions.
Basically just try and be social on here and don't make it seem like you're just trying to push your name out there. Everyone will post a few blogs that just seem to get overlooked some days. Don't sweat about it too much :)
