Well, it's actually my second one, the first one died after one day. This one seems to work fine, even though it restarts several times the first time you turn it on in a day. The Dreamcast itself looks a bit used, but it still is good enough for me... so what game did I get for it?
The one game I played most until now was Soul Calibur, which is an amazing game. I loved Soul Calibur 2 back in the days on my Gamecube and everything I loved there, like the Mission Mode, can still be found here. Great package all in all. Especially the graphics surprise me. So that's how good games looked on the Dreamcast? Awesome!
The other game I played several times is Virtua Fighter 3TB. I loved Virtua Fighter 4 and 5 (to a lesser extend) but Virtua Fighter 2 on the Saturn was a let down for me. Maybe that game is too old for me to appreciate? I haven't spent that much time with the third one yet, but I enjoyed the rounds I had with it. Also, the graphics are good and so are the controls. I always imagined I would have way more problems with that controller, but it seems to work just fine for me...
Rayman 2 is the last game I played more than five minutes, and I kind of like it, since it is a good old Jump'n Run, and that is always something I can appreciate. I have the same game on my DS, but I gave up on it, because it's too dark. May sound strange, but I still have the first model of the DS, so it is really a big deal for me. The Dreamcast version is great though, very colorful environments and I'm going to play some more of it in the nearer future.
Also got a bunch of racing games like Metropolis, F355 Challenge and Re-Volt. Since I am not that into racing games, it will take some time for me to get into those. By the looks, they seem to be okay.
Well, that's pretty much it for my first day of Dreamcast goodness. I'll try to get into Toy Commander soon and maybe try some racing games. You know some good games for the Dreamcast I should get?
But, it was pretty cheap (I think $30). I may just get it in case I do find something worthwhile to purchase.
I'd recommend everything Mr Riosan mentioned. Ecspecially Shenmu. That was a system seller to me back in the day. You need to play that game. If you don't they won't let you into heaven. Check out the sequel too if you can find it. Don't expect any closure to the story though, it was canned before the story arch finished. :(
Resident evil: Code veronica (If you didn't play the PS2 version), Skies of Arcadia, Grandia 2, Phantasy star online (Don't let the awful 360's Universe put you off) and pretty I'm sure I'm forgetting something. If you love them I'd like a small fee for your enjoyment please. If you happen to hate my suggestion, it's got nothing to do with me. It was the other guy.
Peace out my brother and all that jazz. Word.
Make sure you get rival schools 2, third strike, CVS2. Hydro Thunder... shiiiit I have a whole collection of games... on, and space channel 5 part 1 and 2.
I heard the Dreamcast has online play? That's pretty kewl.
Achievement Unlocked
99g You has acquired the best consoles evar , you win at life.
Get Typing of the Dead, Powerstone 2, Jet Set Radio...and everything else. Try Capcom Vs. SNK 1: you can't really find it anywhere else.
I think I'm going to bring the whole crap load of it next year to PAX and see if I can give the whole set away to someone who has a true interest in retro gaming. I know it'll just sit in storage otherwise.
Oh and check out San Fran Rush 2049. It is an awesome arcade racer with a great multiplayer. The stunt and battle modes could have easily been sold on their own. THIS was the game my friends and I played all through high school. Great, great game.
Honestly just about ANY Dreamcast game will do. Skies of Arcadia if you can find it, Evolution, Powerstone...most have already been listed.
If you like rpgs ;p
alien front online was good when it had online :<
power stone is awesome
mvc (i love the original)
wonder where the blue sticker logo from the dc is in the picture, they had a red sticker in the us and japan ;o
The European ones are Blue. Which explains why my Dreamcast has a blue logo...
There's just too many good games for the Dreamcast. One of my favorite consoles of all time, and the game library is just as amazing. :D
Oh, and I recommend everything named above except Seaman. That was a weird effing game. I suggest Crazy Taxi, both Sonic Adventure games, and, if you don't have on another console already, Rez. The library for the Dreamcast is huge, but many of the games were never released outside of Japan.
Grats. The dreamcast is still among my favorite system.s It was so far ahead of its time. Poor marketing and bad release timing were its only downfall.
