The last of my blog posts on the three machines. Perhaps the most controversial of the three machines. The Nintendo Wii. First of all, the name revelation made me think it was a piss poor joke. Pun intended. I mean, seriously, what the hell? But in the end, it worked, with only a tiny voice in your head wanting to make urine jokes every time you hear that name.

Second of all, the revelation that the Wii would in fact have very shit graphics. No high definition and a graphics engine that barely rivals the original Xbox. This will ultimate prove, in my opinion, to be the bane of the Wii's existence. The difference between the Wii and the PS3 is that one has potential longevity, while the other just has potential.

The Wii is a cheap little machine, lacking a hard drive, a dvd player, good graphics, and other staples that the other consoles have. These are all severe cons. By the sounds of it, it may seem I really don't like the Wii. The truth is, it's my most played console. I love it. But even I can see the limitations of this little beauty.

However, on the plus side, the Wii has absolutely opened the floodgates and taken gaming to a new level. The 360 and PS3 are fighting their own little place for what I feel will be leftovers from Nintendo. None of this would be possible without the Wii's unique control system. I never thought it was possible to do what they've done with their little wiimote. I still can't believe it. Now I can't play Tennis on the PS3 or 360 without laughing at how mundane an experience it is. Wii Sports just blew me away more than any game on 360 and PS3. Why? Because when I moved my hand in a swinging motion, the Mii on the screen did too!

The looks on peoples faces when I invited them to play. They'd ask 'what button do I press?' when we played tennis. When I told them they didn't have to, they couldn't believe it. Seeing them move their hands and going wow when they realized they really were playing the game, it was just plain cool. For this reason alone, despite crap graphics, crap media support, a token memory store, I absolutely love this machine. Of all three machines, each of which have their great games, the Wii is still the most fun bar none. The other two might be hardcore, but for a lot of games I just feel 'meh, been there, done that'. With the wii, it has so much potential to even just be fun. Wii Sports is still my favourite game on the system. The Virtual Console, while a rip off, is a load of fun. But the sheer interactivity, motion sensor technology, it all just sells it for me. A year afte rit came out, I'm still playing Tennis and Bowling on Wii Sports. I use the internet channel to watch Youtube on tv. I plug my SD Card in to let a slideshow play when family come over to visit. It's a friendly little machine. It's a fun little machine.

One of my biggest gripes is that there simply aren't enough stellar games on it. The 360 wins that race, with Wii second, and PS3 quite a distant last. Yet still, I love it. It's the little machine that could, and it returned Nintendo to prominence. If I had it my way, I'd lvoe all the machines to do great because that way we all get the games we want. However, if I had to pick a favourite? For me, it's the Wii. It's different. It doesn't have the greatest graphics, but it sure has the greatest little wiimote around. And for me, that means a lot more. I am very happy with mine. Mario Galaxy, here I come!

Well I own DBZB2, Paper Mario & Zelda for Wii. This is the system my girl plays all the time. I play my 360 until she kicks me off lol. The main reason why I bought the Wii was for Galaxy, Brawl & to keep her off of my 360.
Eh, it's okay. There really aren't a whole lot I'm really interested in for the system that's out at the moment. Resident Evil 4 kept me busy for a while, but other than that not much else at the moment. I'll probably pick up Manhunt 2 and Umbrella Chronicles eventually when they are released. So they should help, and I'm debating on whether I should get Smash Bros. or not. Never was a huge fan, but it might just be a fun little game to play. Oh, Godfather is a great game for the Wii as well. I guess it's good enough for now.
Ok now wait a minute! I just read your post lol.

"The 360 and PS3 are fighting their own little place for what I feel will be leftovers from Nintendo"

HUH? Leftovers? lol no way dude.

"Wii Sports just blew me away more than any game on 360 and PS3. Why? Because when I moved my hand in a swinging motion, the Mii on the screen did too!"

You know what blew me away more than the Wiimote? Bioshock & Halo 3 multiplayer. Also, the controller isn't all that accurate.

"Of all three machines, each of which have their great games, the Wii is still the most fun bar none."

It seems like you only own a Wii or a you are a fanboy. Everybody that I know that owns boths loves their 360/PS3 more.

Whats up with dat?
I love my Wii. I'm disappointed in it, but it's kind of the same relationship you might have with your little brother. You're allowed to tease him or rough him up a little, but if anyone else dares to fuck with him you gotta lay the smack down. I think when the dust settles, a couple generations down the line the Wii will stand as a lot of people's favorite Nintendo system.
It's a disappointment. I wanted so badly to love it, but I just can't bring myself to. When I move to The States, I will not be replacing it. It's a shame because there ARE a few quality games on it, they just aren't enough to justify the system.

Of course, that could all change. I don't hold much hope.
I enjoy it. I find there's a lot of stuff on the system that can keep me busy, because I'm willing to play something that isn't amazing as long as it's fun. That, and I don't have an HDTV nor any desire to get one anytime soon.
I sold my Wii. Much like Trevor I found a lot of enjoyment with RE4, however, once beaten I realized there really wasn't all that much I was interested in.

I've had my 360 for over a year now and I'm very happy with it. It has an awesome game library and I'm very excited about many of the games coming out next year.

I picked up a PS3 a month ago, and while the library is lacking at the moment, there are many more games out now and out in the near future that I am interested in.

Other than my DS my love for Nintendo is slowly fading. Nintendo has definately found an audience with the Wii and they'll be successful, but I am definately not in attendence.
I love my 360 the best though. Just want to make that clear.
I like my Wii. The graphics are fine with me. I'm no graphics whore. I can still enjoy PS1 games as long as the games are good. The lack of games is slightly good for me, because I can't afford a lot. I still haven't bought SPM or MP3. I'm usually too busy to play frequently, so it works for me. I play a little Strikers or Sin&Punishment when I have some time.
I'm all about my Wii. Fuck I use the wather channel every morning because its quick and easy, I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who does that. I can get through two to three games a month and looking at the schedule there are plenty of games on there or coming out from both first party and thrid to keep me happy, plus with all the new channels coming out I'm hoping Nintendo gets their act together online. DS downloads FTW.
I'm not really dissapointed in it either. I understand the gripe that there could be more A1 games but at the moment I'm not really seeing hundreds of top games flooding out for any system and I'm so tired of FPS on the 360 that I'm actually avoiding the Oragne Box for now. So yea not dissapointed and happy that my girlfriend will play some games with me too.
i like my wii in small doses, fun with a friend, can't get into it on my own.
i enjoy my wii. Even if there aren't games that i want to buy at the moment, i can always count on te virtual console to egt some good games. I still gotta buy and beat breath of fire 2 before zack and wiki.
Ask this question again in a few months after BWii, SMG, and SSBB :)
JackofNoTrades: I actually have all the machines. Even back in the SNES/Genesis [or Megadrive as they called it in NZ] I've been of the belief that I follow the games, not really the systems. That still holds true today. But I will say I really don't enjoy the PS3, but I love the 360. I love the Wii more because it's a different kind of fun. That probably makes me not 'hardcore' but I don't care, I've been gaming too long to be influenced by what's cool or not, and the Wii is definitely not cool. But I love it anyway. It's fun.

I hope the 360 gets more non-FPS games. I can't wait for Assassin's Creed. I also love XBL games.
