Hey, remember when I said I’d be promoting the crap out of
Deadly Premonition a.k.a.
Rainy Woods?
Well, I really wasn’t lying about that.
First things first...Listen up Ignition! Not everybody uses Twitter or Twitpic (which I didn’t even know existed). Okay, I know Ignition Entertainment aren’t exactly huge publishers, but when they’ve managed to spark interest with
Murasama: The Demon Blade you’d expect them to keep up the profiles of their other titles. That said, it’s probably down to journalistic indifference too (as witnessed in
360 Gamer this month...way to inspire smaller developers, guys). Still, putting the new pictures on a website I never knew existed until last week doesn’t help.
Anyway, here are some new pictures of a game that nobody wants...other than me! Now including semi-hilarious, caption commentary!
You're gonna need more than a steel pipe, mate.
How much for cigarettes? You have to wonder if the Japanese developers have heard of currency converters.
Behind the blur, it’s a scene blatantly lifted from
Twin Peaks where Cooper introduces himself. So what? Wanna fight about it?!
When nobody is around York likes to pay tribute to Michael Jackson by dancing to Billie Jean.
That, my friends, is a man’s moustache.
Not that thrilling, but I guess the floating medal is part of some collection achievement.
York hopes to find the killer’s identity on the back of a burger wrapper. What a guy!
It looks like the game includes QTE events. Not my favourite game mechanic, but it’ll do.
Yes, that’s a nurse in a deformed hospital. Don’t say
that game because I already know.
I’m not sure how fishing will play a part in this game other than maybe getting more income for catches or boosting your stamina with a quick bite to eat.
Good, because I hate kids.
Crazy Taxi! Woo! I think there are sequences that force you to drive somewhere in a tight time limit, even though it’s primarily a sandbox game.
Originally, this was where Agent York met twin midgets in a red velvet room. I’m glad they changed it to this new, trippy version though.
Yeah, it’s
Silent Hill. I know, just drop it already.
Yee-Har! Come on down to the Milk Barn! I’m guessing the phones are save points and the shops are where you stock up on items and fill your car up with gas.
I have no idea what’s up with these blurry bits,
but I think it’s the game’s dialogue choices. Don’t quote me on that though.
Not much to say other than the car damage and fuel tank under the speedometer. Also, you’ve probably noticed the time limits. My guess is that York has to be at certain places for scripted events. Not sure what happens if you miss the deadline though.
But I had this custom bib made for Sloppy Joe's! C'mon, Naomi Watts! Cut me some slack here!
Yeah, it’s ugly and you can see where they cut corners, but I’m still excited for the game.
I’ve seen the full layout of Greenvale on the website. The map is large with the town included and there are plenty of roads leading out into the woodland areas. It should be fun for some tense, ominous drives.
Say what you will about the ugliness, but I like the slick rain effects on display in this game.
Woah! Did I just step back into the PS1 era of gaming?! MY EYES!
Well, at least the game attempts to tackle customer indifference.
So there you go. Some more stuff about
Rainy Woods, I mean
Deadly Premonition. No wait,
Rainy Woods sounds so much better. It’s out March 2010, though for some reason Gamestop have it down for
22/02/10 and Amazon (the US one) have it down for
23/02/10...which doesn’t mean much to me since I live in the UK anyway!

All pictures were taken from Twitpic...whatever the hell that is...
As it stands, it's only on the 360 at the moment.
