Cheaper than an 800 point XBLA game and you can eat people's hearts with your tentacle arms that are voiced by Mr. Bungle and Faith No More's lead singer, Mike Patton.

He mics his hair apparently.

Seriously though, it's a high quality game for $8.99, buy it. As far as I know though, that's just the price for the 360 version, dunno about the PS3.

The scene where jackie has no control and has to "watch" is one of the most heart-wrenching scenes in a game I've ever scene. Some really sad shit.

The demo was fun. Was going to pick this up at the 20 dollar price range. $8.99 sounds awesome. Sure the demo was a little buggy, but you could eat hearts and use cool comic book powers. Since we probably won't get a decent Darkness movie, this is the best we can hope for.

Yeah, the PS3 version is 18 (I think). You definitely can't beat 8 bucks though.

@Covah: Very true. It was so well written and acted out that it was hard to fight back emotions of anger mixed with deep sadness. Especially considereing the perspective you're seeing all this unfold from. This scene alone is worth $8.00.

The only real problem I had with this game is that NY felt so small and confined. It felt liek a movie set of Manhattan. Plus once you killed all the guys in an area there was really no reason to return because it remained desolate.

Also it had incredible potentional as an online title if they incorporated the single player darkness powers & NPC darklings into MP in a fun way. Runnig around as a darkling was fun for 20 minutes but everyone got bored of it kinda quick as it was hard to find a match soon after release.

Still, a good game with good production values in my opinion. I was looking forward to a new-gen Riddick but there hasn;t been much news on that front. L(

I was pretty entertained by the demo. For $9, you can't really go wrong, even if it's only mediocre. If I didn't have shelves and shelves worth of games on back order, I'd be heading to the store.

To say that I liked The Darkness would be a massive understatement. The story was great and kept me playing while the gameplay was a blast. It introduced the narrative in a way that kept you feeling immersed the whole way through and I actually cared for the characters. While the multiplayer is weak, the singleplayer is amazing. As Y0j1mb0 said, there is no excuse to not pick it up at this price.

I have gone into online gaming exile in the mountains in order to undergo intense training to become "The Batman".

I have plenty of delicious single player games to keep me entertained though, plus when Skate 2 comes out I will go over to Dan's and get on the internets to skate with you. Then I can listen to you scream when you can't hit the cool gaps that i can. =)

We did have some fun on the ol' Live though, I will be on here and there on the weekends if I go to Dan's or if I go over to my little office setup I'm setting up in town.

Cool. I would buy it at that price, but it would have to be unopened, not NEW and opened like Gamestop likes to do.
