Duke Nukem Whenever Teaser Tomorrow
SteamyV | 4:33 PM on 12.18.2007 26 comments

Kotaku has a (currently broken) link to the 3D Realms forums. A post from George Broussard reads as follows:

<copypasta>

"Last Saturday we had our annual company Christmas party. It was a lot of fun as usual but it featured one special surprise. It turns out that several people had been secretly working late nights and into the wee hours of the morning preparing a special video for those at the party. They created a short teaser for Duke Nukem Forever.

After seeing the teaser we thought it was something we should share with all of you and while it's just a teaser, rest assured more is coming.

Tomorrow, Wednesday the 19th, around noon CST, we will release the first teaser trailer from Duke Nukem Forever. To tide you over until then, here is a screen shot taken from the teaser.

Thank you for being fans of the game and for your continued patience.

I'd like to thank the people on the team that worked so hard to create this teaser and the friends of 3DR that helped create it (Jeremy Soule and Julian Soule, Frank Bry, Jason Evigan and of course, Jon St. John)."

Let the disappointment begin!

Honestly...I'm looking forward to it. The Duke has been gone far too long.

Duke Nukem was my childhood hero... and I still remember the ten years ago "screenshots" of Duke Nukem Forever. I'm looking forward to this game sooooo much (hope it is released some day)

@whiteboy:

After ten years I'm ready to take what I can get. If you ask them to delay it for better graphics they'll switch engines five more times and be looking at another ten years in development. Just let the damn game come out.

I really hope that the teaser is delayed. I don't want this joke to end.

Oh I forgot to mention, they have released two or three different trailers throughout the years as the game progressed but it still never saw release. So I guess I shouldn't be getting too excited about another trailer because it doesn't mean much...

That's pre-rendered, so count me down as unenthused. If the teaser thing has actual moving gameplay footage, then it seems that Wired may only get another 2-3 years of mileage out of putting DNF on their annual Vaporware list.

I'm with Riser. I want this joke to get into the Guinness book of records.

@dvddesign:

That doesn't look pre-rendered to me. Plenty of games look that good and better that are already released. I definitely see imperfect textures and aliasing.

@SteamyV:

I know, I'm talking about the original that Kotaku posted.

Also may I add that the lighting would be much better.

I cant wait for the Duke to return but I cant help thinking that I will be underwhelmed by it. I just hope it doesn't suck like most highly expected games.

Duke's got 10 years of rage to unleash, baby.....

In about another 2-3 decades.

Well, the good thing is that I think we can all agree that a muscle-bound, square-jawed dude with a blonde flat-top wearing sunglesses and an orange tank-top is a timeless creation that surely did not go out of style in the late eighties/early nineties.

(secretly hopes that Duke Nukem will return with long, flowing locks a'la Superman Post-Mortem)
