As most know, the Motor City is responsible for some remarkably
assy failures in this world. But we should all remember that Detroit has also provided
large helpings of
awesome and
win.
One such win is the annual North American International Auto Show, which will be open to the public from Saturday, January 19 through Sunday the 27th. Like the (old) E3 of cars, the NAIAS is one of the larger car conventions in the world, involving nearly every major car manufacturer in the world. The show is often the public's first chance to see upcoming production models, plus there are always plenty of
ridiculous concept cars that aren't
this and therefore need to GTFO.
But regardless, the show is a metric assload of fun. This will be my second year attending the show, as last year was AMAZING. We chat up the reps (read: booth babes, especially Dodge for some reason), take TONS of pictures, and generally revel in the mechanical beauty all around.
Myself and a few friends will be arriving on Friday, January 18. Attentive readers might have noticed we're getting there a day before the show opens, and may have assumed we'll be checking into our hotel and getting some rest for the show the next morning.
However, anyone who knows anything about Detroit knows we're sure as shit not staying in Detroit. For across the river lies the promised land. A land of strippers, booze and cigarettes boxes decorated with pictures of dead babies.
The mystical land of...
If by some great coincidence any of you Dtoiders will be in Windsor this Friday or Saturday, let me know in the comments. I'll be amongst friends at the Honest Lawyer on Ouellette Ave for at least part of both nights. Come for drinks, stay for bewbs. Also, shawarma.
As a native Detroiter currently in exile in Ohio after bad-mouthing the city, I'd just give you the following advice: Stay downtown. It's the safest part of the city. :p
Nihon, what exactly did you do that got you exiled from Detroit?
